Slothrust Drops New Album And Two Fresh Tracks Now

Slothrust have announced their new album, What They Grow in the Garden. It’s out September 18th via Equal Vision Records, but you can hear new singles “Ring the Bell” and “00101001” right now. Stream the tracks below.

What They Grow in the Garden was co-produced by Slothrust with Jordan Witzigreuter (The Ready Set). While recording the album, the LA-based alt-rock veterans aimed for harder-hitting riffs and catchier hooks while setting their sights on creating “dystopian theatre rock.”

Album Details

The project’s lyrics examine “the hive mind” and explore “what it means to be human and live in a system designed to exploit our perceived weaknesses by means of capitalism,” according to a press release. Pre-orders are ongoing.

“We really want people to take away a message from this album of self-liberation amidst the flickers of seemingly inescapable dread,” Slothrust members Leah Wellbaum and Will Gorin explained in a statement. “Despite the permeating blue light of the external world, it is still possible to find your freedom and identify your core truths if you go within.”

New Singles

The first singles, “Ring the Bell” and “00101001,” encapsulate these themes. Both tracks feature soaring vocals from Wellbaum over bombastic guitar riffs and Gorin’s pounding drums.

“Wake up and ring the bell/ You’re running out of air,” she sings on the former track. “Inside your safety coffin/ A victim of the spell/ And if you stay asleep/ Then you will be forgotten.”

Upcoming Tour

This fall, Slothrust will support What They Grow in the Garden with their previously announced “The Dystopian Theatre Tour” across the United States. The Velveteers and Um, Jennifer? will serve as openers.
