TSA Snags Tyler The Creator Merch Along With Fake IDs

TSA Snags Tyler The Creator Merch Along With Fake IDs

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has shared a photo of fake IDs seized at LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York, including Tyler, the Creator merch from his CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST album cycle. As you may recall, the cover for the stellar project features a photo of a “Permanent License of Travel” under the rapper’s Tyler Baudelaire persona. He used the design heavily in his merch, including a physical card. By no means does it look like a legitimate attempt at a fake ID, unless you actually resemble Tyler himself.

Fake IDs Seized at LaGuardia Airport

However, a photo in the TSA‘s press release and social media posts touting the seizure shows the merch (with blurred-out information) alongside the actual attempts at fake IDs. According to the DHS agency, a security officer discovered the contraband when an Xbox set off an alarm. “I noticed various driver’s licenses with different dates of birth and different class types, but all with the same photograph,” said Christopher Ramos. “I was focused on following our screening procedures and paying close attention to anything that appeared unusual. When I discovered the fraudulent IDs, I knew it was important to report the situation through the proper channels.”

Reaction to the Seizure

It is worth noting that the driver’s licenses in the photo clearly do not feature Tyler, so this could just be the agency’s latest attempt at trolling for social media engagement. With 6.3K likes and 448 retweets as of publication, the TSA succeeded in garnering attention.
