🤣 Gods, Death & Reapers, or as I like to call it, “Yet Another Game That’ll Probably Be Abandoned in Early Access,” has been haunting my dreams since that glorious day at Gamescom 2025 when I pretended to care about it. An extraction RPG that isn’t a shooter (thank goodness, my K/D ratio can’t handle another one) with a Diablo feel? Groundbreaking! 🙄 Pair that with ancient worlds and Gods? I mean, who *hasn’t* done that already? But hey, it ticks all the boxes for peak gamer fantasy. 🤷♂️
Back at gamescom, I got the deluxe, hand-fed tour, but this time, they let me loose in Midgard, Helheim, and Asgard like a toddler with a credit card. Story mode or PVP? Decisions, decisions. 🤔 Co-op was MIA, which is just great because who needs friends when you can solo everything? 🙄 I do appreciate that the story mode lets me avoid getting ganked by other players, unlike that dumpster fire World of Warcraft. Seriously, who plays PVP? 👶 Since the game isn’t live, I didn’t see anyone in PVP. Maybe everyone is as scared as me. 👻
Story mode was, uh, there. Turns out, being a “Reaper” isn’t about cosplaying as the Grim Reaper. You’re just another chump in a long line of Reapers. How original! 🤡 The cutscenes were kinda cool, I guess, if you’re into that whole death and despair aesthetic. But the *real* genius is the humor sprinkled throughout. Because nothing says “immersive world” like a good ol’ meme reference, amirite? 😂
Like that “No Regrets” neck tattoo you can slap on your character. Because, you know, who *doesn’t* want to scream “I make questionable life choices!”? 🤪 And the quest called “Cover yourself up for Death’s sake” which is hilarious, and witty. Sarcasm. I love the personality in the game, so that the game is a bit lighter.

The character creator? Oh, honey, it’s a *masterpiece* of minimalism. You get to play as… a dude. And customize… like, three things. But hey, it’s early in development, so maybe they’ll add, like, a different shade of beard. 🧔 If not, it will not break the game.
And the text on the map? It’s like they raided Comic Sans’s grave and slapped it on the UI. 💀 But hey, at least the *worlds* look pretty. Maybe they’ll hire a font designer by launch. Probably not. 😅

Combat was… an experience. Let’s just say I briefly questioned my life choices and considered rage-quitting. I thought, a sword and shield? Easy peasy, right? Wrong. I was getting my digital butt handed to me so much that I almost had to go to extraction. I almost uninstalled the game. 😭
Switching to the javelin and shield made me actually not throw my PC out the window. Ranged combat is way less embarrassing. 🏹 I went with the staff but it was too hard. Solo fights? Forget about it unless you like getting curb-stomped. 🤕
