Twin Temple’s star has risen dramatically in the past few weeks, following their headline-making ouster from country singer Charley Crockett’s tour. On the heels of securing an opening slot at an upcoming Jack White concert, the Satanic doo-wop act made their late-night television debut on Wednesday with a performance of their new single “Haunt Me” on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.
The husband-and-wife duo of Zachary and Alexandra James delivered the ’60s-style ditty decked out in devilish red, with inverted-cross necklaces and stage props. Alexandra sung her heart out on the emotionally charged gothic love song, which appears on Twin Temple’s recently announced new album, Doomed Lovers, set for release on October 9th.
Twin Temple’s Late-Night Television Debut
Prior to performing, Twin Temple sat down with host Jordan Klepper to discuss their music and satanism, among other topics.
“I think a lot of people think that satanism is going to orgies, and you’re nude under the full moon drinking chalices of blood, and hanging out with goats, and we’re here to say that’s absolutely true,” quipped Alexandra to big laughter from the studio audience.
The pair also talked about getting booted from Charley Crockett’s tour because of their satanic imagery, with Zachary telling Klepper, “We were pretty shocked. It was a few days before the shows began,” and Alexandra chiming in, “I feel like it’s time for maybe a little more satanic panic, like let’s get it going again!”
Upcoming Tour Dates
After they were kicked off Crockett’s tour, Twin Temple were personally invited by Jack White to open for him at his show at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on September 29th. They’ve added that gig to their itinerary, along with a number of headlining shows, in addition to their previously announced dates supporting Danzig.
Twin Temple’s North American tour now runs from a September 9th show in Albuquerque, New Mexico, through an October 8th gig in Sacramento, California. Tickets are available here.
