I’m not sure what they’re hoping to find on that phone, but I’m sure it’ll be a thrilling adventure through Fauci’s contacts and tweets.
I mean, can you imagine the excitement of scrolling through someone’s phone, looking for any hint of wrongdoing? It’s like a real-life game of “Where’s Waldo?” except instead of Waldo, it’s “Where’s the incriminating evidence?” Johnson’s team is probably pouring over Fauci’s phone records, looking for anything that might suggest he was involved in some kind of nefarious plot. Bless their hearts, they’re certainly dedicated to their cause.
The committee’s possession of Fauci’s phone could potentially boost their efforts to probe and attack him, especially since he’s already invoked his Fifth Amendment rights over 100 times during a recent hearing. I’m no lawyer, but I’m pretty sure that’s a record. Fauci’s refusal to testify has got the Republicans all riled up, and they’re determined to make him pay for his silence.
It’s worth noting that the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will be voting on a resolution to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress, and if they succeed, they’ll be sending the results straight to the Department of Justice. I’m not sure what the DOJ will do with this information, but I’m sure it’ll be a fun spectacle to watch.
Meanwhile, Sen. Rand Paul is still fuming about Fauci’s noncooperation and is convinced that he’s hiding something. Paul’s been clashing with Fauci for years, and it’s clear that he’s not going to let up anytime soon. The man’s got a mission, and that mission is to take down Fauci, no matter what it takes.
In other news, the Wall Street Journal was the first to report on Johnson’s panel obtaining Fauci’s phone, because of course they were. Those guys are like the superheroes of journalism, always scooping up the latest news and saving the day. And let’s not forget about Fauci’s diary, which was released by Paul’s committee and contains over 1,100 pages of juicy gossip and behind-the-scenes info. It’s like a real-life soap opera, folks!
As I finish my coffee and wrap up this article, I’ve got to say that the whole thing is just a big mess.
