In a shocking turn of events, Andy Scott, guitarist of the legendary rock band SWEET, has gone on a rant about another touring and recording act called THE SWEET, which contains no members from the original SWEET lineup. Because, you know, the world was just missing a fake SWEET band 🙄. In a recent interview with Adam and Darren Roach of the Land Of Music Podcast, Scott expressed his “concern” over the existence of this other band, saying “it’s not right” and that “it really isn’t right.” Wow, what a bold statement 🤯.
So, what happened? Well, it turns out that Steve Priest, the late SWEET bassist, formed a trust with his family, and now his wife is running a little band called THE SWEET in America. And, of course, American lawyers are involved, because why not? 🤑 Scott claims that he doesn’t want to get involved with that, which is totally understandable, because who needs drama, right?
The Saga Continues
But wait, it gets better! Scott went on to explain that having another touring and recording act in the U.S. called THE SWEET is “not right” because he doesn’t have a full trademark in the country. Ah, so it’s all about the trademark, folks 📈. He even suggested that his version of SWEET could still go to America, but they’d have to adjust the name, maybe to “UK SWEET” with a British flag, just so that people know who’s coming 🇬🇧. Because, you know, the world is just dying to know the difference between the real SWEET and the fake one 🤣.
And, of course, Scott had to bring up another example of a classic band that was revived without the original lineup, THE ZOMBIES. Because, why not? 🤷♂️ He said that a guy who worked with THE ZOMBIES in America decided to form a band with the same name and play in casinos, and that it’s a “Walter Mitty” thing going on 🎭. Wow, what a wild story 🤯.
The Plot Thickens
But what about the other version of THE SWEET, you ask? 🤔 Well, Scott claims that they’re “scrabbling about” and can’t see why they would need to tour and record under the SWEET name 🤑. He even questioned their motives, saying “if they need money, I’m not sure why they would need money” 🤑. Wow, what a generous guy 🙏.
And, of course, Scott had to plug his own version of SWEET, which tours the U.K. and Australia 🎸. He’s joined by Paul Manzi, Lee Small, Tom Cory, and Adam Booth, and they’re going to release a new studio album, “Full Circle”, which will be SWEET’s final studio album ever 🎶. Because, you know, the world needs one last SWEET album 🙏.
In conclusion, the world is still spinning, and people are still confused about which SWEET band is the real one 🤯. But hey, who cares? 🤷♂️ It’s all just a big mess, and we’re just here for the entertainment 🎪. So, go ahead and book your tickets for THE SWEET (or is it THE SWEET?) and enjoy the show 🎟️! 🤘
