You Won't Believe What Happened to Pete Buttigieg

I’m sipping my coffee and reading about Pete Buttigieg’s latest ordeal, and folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. Apparently, someone made an anonymous report to the Michigan State Police claiming that Buttigieg posed a danger to his four-year-old twins. I mean, can you believe it? The police, of course, found nothing to substantiate the report, but not before Buttigieg had to spend a night away from his kids. Bless their hearts, indeed.

The whole thing sounds like a big mess, with Child Protective Services getting involved and investigators talking to the twins. Buttigieg himself said it was one of the darkest hours of his life, and I can understand why. I mean, who wouldn’t be upset if someone was making false accusations about them being a bad parent? The police eventually determined that the report was false and likely politically motivated, which doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Buttigieg wrote about the whole experience in a Substack post, saying that the incident occurred soon after he shared photos of his family online for Father’s Day. He also mentioned that he’s faced death threats and criticism from some Republicans for taking paternity leave after he and his husband Chasten adopted their twins. It’s all just a big pile of ugliness, if you ask me.

Now, I know some people might say that this is just the way politics is these days, but I think it’s more than that. It’s like Buttigieg said: politics has always been ugly, but now it feels more and more like bloodsport. I mean, who makes a false report about someone being a bad parent just to hurt them? That’s just low.

And let’s not forget about the whole swatting thing, where people make fake emergency calls to get the police to show up at someone’s house. It’s a big waste of resources and can be really dangerous. I just don’t get why people can’t just disagree with someone without being disagreeable.

Buttigieg’s experience is just the latest example of how politics can get really personal and really ugly. I just hope that people can start to calm down and respect each other’s differences, even if they don’t agree on everything. After all, as Buttigieg said, his kids are only four years old and don’t care about politics – they just want their dad to be safe and happy.

In the end, it’s just sad that we live in a world where people feel like they can make false reports and threaten others just because they disagree with them. I hope that someday we can all just get along and respect each other, even if we don’t see eye to eye. And until then, I’ll just be over here sipping my coffee and shaking my head at the state of the world. 🙄
