Squirrel Flower has released a duo of new singles, “Not Me” and “Sick Tooth,” from her forthcoming album, Say a Prayer to the Gods of Getting Going. Stream them below.
With “Not Me,” Ella Williams, the artist behind Squirrel Flower, gives listeners gauzy Americana that, despite being bare-bones, is filled with heart. “Sick Tooth” ups the fuzz in a staticky bedroom indie tune with zero fat in its one-minute, 45-second runtime.
Upcoming Album and Tour
“I’d been listening to so much Linda Ronstadt when I wrote [‘Not Me’], and I think that really came through,” Williams said in a statement. “I wanted to let myself really sing, and produce and arrange the song in a way that allowed that.”
Say a Prayer to the Gods of Getting Going is set for release on August 21st via Polyvinyl Record Co; pre-orders are ongoing. The LP was recorded in 2024 and 2025 with co-producers Seth Engel and Jack Henry, then refined by Alex Farrar at his Drop of Sun studios in Asheville, North Carolina.
Instrumentalists on the record include Dave Hartley (The War on Drugs), Seth Kauffman (Angel Olsen), Dimitri Giannopoulos (Horse Jumper of Love), Sofia Jensen (Free Range), Clay Frankel (Twin Peaks), Andy Krull (Red PK), and Book not Brooke (Babywave).
Past Work and Upcoming Tour Dates
Squirrel Flower’s latest album, Tomorrow’s Fire, was released in 2023. The Williams-fronted act starts a fall tour in August. Look for tickets here.
