Slipknot have surprise released the single titled “ARSENAL,” the masked metal band’s first new song in more than three years and first since parting ways with longtime member Sid Wilson.
The band has also unveiled a new eight-man publicity photo, indicating they may not replace Wilson at all. Traditionally, Slipknot have always had a nine-man lineup.
New Music and Video
“ARSENAL” is raw and heavy, and recalls some of Slipknot’s early Mr. Bungle-influenced experimental material, with a chaotic arrangement and singer Corey Taylor spitting out rap-sung lines like, “I fought a fucking god and the god lost,” and “I know I’m a hack and a has-been, but motherfucker I’m a .45 and not a Mach 10.”
The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan and starring actor Jackson White (Tell Me Lies, Mrs. Fletcher).
