Sony Boosts PS Plus With Seven New Titles To Justify Subscription Fees

Sony Boosts PS Plus With Seven New Titles To Justify Subscription Fees

Another month, another deluge of games to sift through in the PlayStation Plus catalog. Because, you know, what’s a gaming subscription without a constant stream of titles to keep you distracted from the fact that you’re paying a monthly fee? This October, PS Plus subscribers are in for a treat, with a batch of spooky and dramatic games to get them in the mood for the spookiest of seasons. And by “treat,” I mean a handful of games that will inevitably get lost in the sea of other titles you’ve been meaning to play but never got around to.

As announced on the official PlayStation Blog, the October lineup for PS Plus Extra and Premium is looking like a veritable mixed bag. We’ve got the likes of Mafia: The Old Country, which I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing, alongside the relatively unknown Mycopunk. And because one Horizon game just isn’t enough, Horizon Forbidden West is making a return to the catalog after being delisted in 2024. I’m sure the two people who didn’t get a chance to play it the first time around are thrilled. These titles will be available on October 20th, 2026, because who needs a consistent release schedule, anyway?

The Spooky Season of Gaming

Naturally, with Halloween just around the corner, PlayStation Plus Extra is getting into the spirit with the second chapter of Poppy Playtime and The Midnight Walk. Because what’s a gaming subscription without a little horror to go around? Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 promises to expand on the lore of the series, while The Midnight Walk is looking to scare the living daylights out of you in VR. Joy.

The Full Rundown

So, what’s the full list of games coming to PS Plus Extra, you ask? Well, let me tell you, it’s a doozy. We’ve got:

🎰 HOW FAKE IS THIS NEWS?

  • Mafia: The Old Country | PS5
  • Horizon Forbidden West | PS5, PS4
  • Mycopunk | PS5
  • Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 | PS5, PS4
  • The Midnight Walk | PS5
  • Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition | PS5, PS4
  • Monster Energy Supercross 25 – The Official Video Game | PS5

And if you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, you’ll also be getting Dino Crisis 2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition, because who doesn’t love a good theme park simulator?

Premium Subscribers Get the Bonus Games

And finally, for those of you who have shelled out the extra cash for a Premium subscription, you’ll be getting access to Game Trials for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Mortal Shell II on October 20th. Because what’s a gaming subscription without a few “free” trials to get you hooked on even more games?

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a solid month for PS Plus subscribers, even if the constant deluge of games is starting to feel like a never-ending battle against the void of your backlog. But hey, at least you’ll have something to play while you’re waiting for the next big release, right? And who knows, you might just find a hidden gem in the midst of all these titles. Stranger things have happened, after all. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a few dozen games to get through.
