Cage The Elephant Drops New Single Beaches in Tennessee Online Now

Cage The Elephant have released the single, “Beaches in Tennessee,” their first new music in two years. Stream it below. With “Beaches in Tennessee” garage rock lives. Lockstep overdriven guitars, bass and vocal melodies hammer out an attitude-laden tune that has no shame in its simplicity.

The song was written by brothers Matt and Brad Shultz, vocalist and guitarist respectively, and was produced by Justin and Jeremiah Raisen.

“‘Beaches In Tennessee’ is about wanting to be rescued from everything,” Matt said in a statement. “Sonically, it took shape fairly quickly. We all fell in love with Brad’s guitar part, and we built the track from there. Personally, I felt good writing it. We’re presenting some heavy and dark subject matter in a lighthearted way, but the situation is no longer in the present tense, thankfully.”

“It’s no secret that I went through a mental health crisis a few years back; this song for me symbolizes me finally being able to move past it,” Matt added. “I was hospitalized for nearly three months, the song addresses it by creating a fictionalized account of it. It was my attempt at reclaiming the ability to write about something serious that happened in my life, from a place of genuine experience. There’s a saying, ‘There’s nothing better than a poor Christmas’. It’s because you learn to make the most of what you have and appreciate it. Having gone through what I did, I’m grateful to have the perspective that I have now. The experience gave me a greater appreciation for my life when I came out on the other side. I’m thankful for where I’m at now in this new chapter. As a band, we were able to reclaim the ability to write a song rooted in a difficult and turbulent real-life event, but do it in a lighthearted way. I hope it helps someone else the way it helped me.”

Return to Music

The single ends a two year drought of new music from the band with their last release coming in 2024 with their album Neon Pill. The band recently signed to the record label Big Loud Rock.

The release of “Beaches in Tennessee” marks a new chapter for Cage The Elephant, and fans can expect more music from the band in the future. With their unique blend of garage rock and catchy melodies, Cage The Elephant is sure to continue making waves in the music industry.
