Chiodos have unleashed the single “TAPDAT,” the post-hardcore band’s first new song in 12 years. The track comes ahead of the band’s summer North American tour. “TAPDAT” is a dynamic single, covering a frankly absurd amount of range in four minutes in an aesthetically cohesive way. The song opens with progressive metal virtuosic flourishes before incorporating elements of neo-classical metal, metalcore, alternative R&B, screamo, and digitized Autotune driven post-hardcore.
Chiodos always leaned toward the more progressive and artsy end of their wave of screamo alongside bands like The Receiving End of Sirens, The Fall of Troy, and Fear Before the March of Flames. “TAPDAT” shows that not only have they not lost a step but they’ve kept their ears to the ground over the past decade and taken in a lot of modern influence.
Summer Tour and Festival Dates
Vocalist Craig Owed stated, “There is still so much work to be done to build out the world of Chiodos. ‘TAPDAT’ is the first step in that direction. Its return to our ethos is what drew me back to creating with this band, and you can feel it throughout every minute of the song. Chiodos’ summer tour kicks off July 30th in Denver, and runs through an August 29th show in Nashville. In addition, the band has fall festival dates at Louder Than Life and Aftershock.
