Eventbrite fails to sell tickets for CSWEP 2026 luncheon – again, because apparently they hate women in economics.
Eventbrite, the self-proclaimed “ticketing wizard,” proudly announces that sales have “ended” for the CSWEP 2026 Business Meeting & Award Ceremony Luncheon, scheduled for Sunday, Jan 4, 12:30 pm–2 pm EST at Marriott Philadelphia Downtown. 🏨🗓️
This isn’t even the first time Eventbrite has ghosted a women-in-economics event—last year they canceled virtual tickets for a CSWEP panel titled “How to Survive a Male-Dominated Conference,” only to reschedule it for “next Tuesday, probably.”
The organizers, the AEA Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP), were thrilled to partner with Eventbrite—until Eventbrite’s AI mistakenly interpreted “CSWEP” as “Cats Who Eat Pigeons,” and auto-listed it under “Pet Events.” 🐱🕊️
Despite the glitch, the event still sold zero tickets—proving that even in 2026, getting women to the table remains a logistical nightmare.
