Desperate Defense Tries DNA Houdini Act in Laken Riley Murder Case

Jose Ibarra’s legal team is pulling out all the stops in their latest attempt to wiggle out of life in prison for the brutal killing of nursing student Laken Riley. Now they’re trotting out a DNA “expert” who claims – get this – the killer’s DNA might have magically teleported onto evidence through “indirect transfer.” Sure, Jan.

The expert admitted she hasn’t even finished reviewing the case but still showed up to muddy the waters for the grieving Riley family. She actually wrote that a “reasonable explanation” for finding Ibarra’s DNA at the crime scene was that he left it there while committing murder. That’s not helping your case, counselor!

Ibarra, 28, entered our country illegally in 2022 and was allowed to roam free while his immigration case crawled through the system. During that time, he encountered 22-year-old Laken Riley while she was jogging on the University of Georgia campus and murdered her during a struggle. The beautiful young nursing student’s life was cut short by someone who shouldn’t have been here in the first place.

The case sparked national outrage and became a flashpoint in the immigration debate. President Trump made it a priority, signing the Laken Riley Act as his first piece of legislation – requiring detention of illegal immigrants accused of theft and violent crimes. Finally, someone in Washington is putting American citizens first!

Ibarra’s new legal team is now arguing his constitutional rights were violated when the judge refused to delay the trial and allowed cellphone evidence they wanted excluded. They’re grasping at straws with their motion for a new trial, but the facts remain clear: this man was convicted by a judge after waiving his right to a jury trial, and he received the sentence he deserved.

The judge gave attorneys another month to file legal arguments, but let’s be honest – this is just another delay tactic from the same playbook we’ve seen too many times. Meanwhile, Laken Riley’s family continues to grieve while her killer tries every trick in the book to escape justice.
