RUSH Eyes Las Vegas Sphere Residency For 2027

RUSH Eyes Las Vegas Sphere Residency For 2027

RUSH are rumored to play a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere in 2027, based on comments from radio host Eddie Trunk and a report by The Sun.

Rumor Details

With RUSH having launched the North American leg of their “Fifty Something” reunion tour, and an overseas leg slated for the first half of next year, a late 2027 residency would be most likely. Adding to the weight of the rumors is the conspicuous lack of Las Vegas dates on the band’s current tour itinerary.

The rumor was first reported by perennial industry insider Eddie Trunk on his SiriusXM show, during which he mentioned that he had heard the band planned on 16-18 shows at Sphere, and that it was more or less a “done deal” (as reported by the RUSH Is a Band blog). He later emphasized on X/Twitter, however, that while he had heard the rumor from trusted sources, it was as-yet unconfirmed in any official capacity, while also noting that when he previously asked Alex Lifeson directly about his thoughts on playing a Sphere residency, the RUSH guitarist was not into the idea, although he was not into the idea of touring at all at that point either.

Other Reports

Meanwhile, The Sun posted a similar report, with a source telling the newspaper, “RUSH has an enormous audience across North America. Even though they are Canadian, their music and success has been huge in the US. Their hits, history and live performances make them an attractive proposition. Talks have been secretly going for now for a while, but the word is that contracts could be locked down in the next couple of weeks.”

Given the lengths of Las Vegas Sphere residencies, with U2 opening the venue with a staggering 40-date run and Metallica preparing a 24-date run for their “Life Burns Faster” residency due to begin in October 2026 until March 2027, the rumored window makes sense, coming after both Metallica’s run as well as the international tour dates for RUSH’s own “Fifty Something” tour.

Other Artists

Another legendary progressive act that has been rumored to be playing Sphere is Tool, with guitarist Adam Jones saying that the band was in talks to be the first act to play the venue before U2 ultimately got the gig.

RUSH are currently in the midst of their ongoing reunion tour, with a North American leg scheduled through December, and a European leg set to conclude in April 10th, 2027, in Helsinki. We named the outing one of our 10 must-see hard rock and metal tours of the summer, a choice validated by the continuing excellence of the performances. Get tickets here.

In conclusion, while the rumors of RUSH playing a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere in 2027 are still unconfirmed, the band’s current tour schedule and the success of other residencies at the venue make it a plausible possibility. Fans of the band will have to wait and see if the rumors become a reality, but for now, they can continue to enjoy the band’s ongoing reunion tour.
