DIIV Unveils New Album ZIRP Produced By A G Cook

Brooklyn shoegaze vets DIIV have announced their new album ZIRP! via a cryptic mailer sent to fans. Out October 30th, the project was produced by PC Music founder and frequent Charli xcx collaborator A. G. Cook.

Fans who received business cards in the mail from DIIV were directed to a hotline via a QR code. Those who dial the number (+1 229-798-9477) will hear a telemarketing message touting ZIRP! as “the future of alternative multimedia entertainment,” meant to recruit those who want to “challenge assumptions,” “create entire new categories,” and “think on a global scale.”

About the Album

Not much else is known about the follow-up to 2024’s Frog in Boiling Water except for a description on the website, which hails the album as “the new alternative: a new genre for the 21st century.” Pre-saves are ongoing.

Recent Music and Projects

DIIV’s latest single, “Return of Youth,” was released in May 2025. The track came after frontman Zachary Cole Smith lost his home in the devastating January LA wildfires and addresses the arrival of his second child with his wife in such turbulent times. More recently, the group dropped their experimental Boiled Alive concert film and live album this past January.

Meanwhile, A. G. Cook released his latest solo album, the 3x LP Britpop, in 2024. Since then, he has produced nearly every track on Charli xcx’s game-changing Brat, scored A24’s The Moment, and reunited with Charli on her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film.

In conclusion, the announcement of DIIV’s new album ZIRP! has generated excitement among fans, and with A. G. Cook at the helm, it’s likely to be an innovative and experimental project. As the release date approaches, fans can expect more information and possibly even new music from the Brooklyn shoegaze vets. With their unique sound and Cook’s production expertise, ZIRP! is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated albums of the year.
