Metal Show Halted Due to Feces in Mosh Pit Incident

Metal Show Halted Due to Feces in Mosh Pit Incident

What’s the deal with people pooping in the middle of the crowd at concerts this year? A metal gig in New Zealand is the latest show to be victimized by an unwelcome turd. Following similar incidents at a Noah Kahan show and a 5 Seconds of Summer gig earlier this year, the band Devilskin had to put a stop to their concert in New Zealand on Saturday night when a stink filled up the venue.

As it turns out, not only did someone poop their pants, but the person let the turd roll down to the floor in the middle of the pit. Disgusted fans called attention to it, forming a ring around the offending fecal matter, leading Devilskin singer Jennie Skulander to pause the show, and ask, “Is someone sick?”

When informed that it was a piece of poop, the vocalist exclaimed, “Poo? Ew!”

One eyewitness told New Zealand outlet Stuff, “The guy who was directly in front of me proceeded to shake a log down his leg… We shuffled to the side a meter or three, then I realized that I needed to alert security. One guard came over, and verified with me the culprit and saw the offensive material on the floor.”

Apparently, the odor caused other concertgoers to throw up, with another eyewitness saying, “I think the smell triggered lots of people to then vomit. The smell obviously hit them and then people started spewing in response to that.”

Investigation and Aftermath

Authorities were called, but no arrests were made. As it turns out, the offending person had an “unfortunate medical incident.”

“The individual involved remained fully clothed throughout, and this was in no way a deliberate ‘code brown’ situation,” said Daniel Leamy, the president of the Otago University Students’ Association, which operates the venue. “They were willingly escorted from the venue by security once staff had assessed the best course of action.”

Devilskin have since made light of the event, offering a “Diaper of Doom” on their social pages, with the description, “After some unique feedback, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to provide Devilskin fans with the ultimate companion for your Be Like The River 10th Anniversary Tour experience! Devilskin’s ‘Diaper of Doom’ has you covered front-to-back, start-to-finish.”

For what it’s worth, Noah Kahan is petitioning Congress to order everyone to wear diapers to rock concerts from now on, giving a whole new meaning to “Stick Season.”

In conclusion, the recent incidents of people defecating in public at concerts have left many in the music industry and beyond scratching their heads. While Devilskin and other bands have made light of the situation, it remains to be seen how venues and event organizers will address this issue in the future. One thing is certain, however: the Devilskin concert in New Zealand will be remembered for a long time, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
