Oh boy, are you guys ready for some exciting news? 🤩 I mean, I’m not, but I’ll pretend to be. So, Alissa White-Gluz, the former vocalist of ARCH ENEMY, is keeping busy with not one, not two, but three music projects. Because, you know, one project just isn’t enough to satisfy her creative genius. I’m pretty sure she’s trying to break some kind of record for most projects done at once. Anyway, she’s working on her solo album, “Alissa”, her new all-woman group BLUE MEDUSA, and she’s also collaborating with DRAGONFORCE as their first-ever frontwoman. I mean, who needs sleep when you can just do all the things, right? 😴
So, in a recent interview with Paolo Phoenix of Magenta TV at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, Alissa talked about how she manages to deliver all three projects with, you know, some semblance of quality. She said, “Yeah, so I think for a lot of artists, we have a creative force in us that we need to get out, and it’s fun to do it across multiple things.” Yeah, because that’s exactly what I want to hear from an artist – that they’re just doing a bunch of stuff because it’s fun. I mean, who needs focus or dedication when you can just do a bunch of things and hope something sticks? 🎉
The BLUE MEDUSA Project
Alissa also talked about her main passion project, BLUE MEDUSA, which is an all-woman group that she’s putting all her energy into. Because, you know, the world was just missing an all-woman metal group. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s a great marketing gimmick. She said, “BLUE MEDUSA is really — it’s me. That is the music I love. That is who I am. That’s what I wanna be doing. That’s how I wanna sound. It’s what I wanna say.” Wow, that sounds like a really original and not-at-all-clichéd statement. I’m sure she didn’t just copy and paste that from a generic artist statement template. 🙄
Regarding the musical differences between BLUE MEDUSA and DRAGONFORCE, Alissa said, “BLUE MEDUSA is so high energy, and that’s super important to me as a performer. I like to perform really high-energy music.” Yeah, because DRAGONFORCE is known for their low-energy performances. I mean, who needs high energy when you can just play a bunch of power chords and hope the crowd gets excited? 🤘
The DRAGONFORCE Collaboration
Alissa also talked about her collaboration with DRAGONFORCE, saying, “Getting to sing with DRAGONFORCE, who are just amazing legends and super-nice people, super-great musicians, great songs, that’s obviously an honor also, and I’m very happy to be doing that.” Wow, that sounds like a really sincere and not-at-all-forced statement. I’m sure she didn’t just say that because she’s contractually obligated to promote the band. 🤑
So, to sum it up, Alissa White-Gluz is doing a bunch of stuff because she’s a creative genius and she needs to express herself. And we’re all just lucky to be along for the ride. I mean, who needs quality control when you can just do a bunch of projects and hope something sticks? 🤪
