Another Greatest Hits from The Clash because you didnt buy it the first time

Untitled 20

Because apparently retirement is just a suggestion, and the music industry’s motto is “never say die” (or at least not until the 40th anniversary edition), we have yet another treat for fans of The Clash. The World According To The Clash, a compilation featuring 11 of the band’s most celebrated tracks, is set to be released on November 13th by Sony Music. Originally distributed in 1982 to US-only radio stations, this little gem has never been made publicly available, because what’s a legendary band’s legacy without a few rare, coveted items to keep the fans hungry? And now, it’s finally seeing the light of day, because the remaster economy remains undefeated.

Over a brief five-year period, The Clash – Joe Strummer on vocals and guitar, Mick Jones on guitar and vocals, Paul Simonon on bass, and drummer Topper Headon – were the epitome of productivity, playing incessantly, writing and recording prolifically, and releasing five albums that would go on to shape the music landscape. Their 1979 LP London Calling, released in the US in 1980, was voted Best Album of the 70s by NME and Best Album of the 80s by Rolling Stone, because who needs chronological accuracy when you’re a legendary band?

The Legacy Lives On

Prior to the release of Combat Rock in 1982, which became their biggest-selling release, The World According To The Clash was prepared for US radio DJs, featuring stand-out tracks from their history. Now, newly remastered and with new artwork designed by the band, this compilation is a must-have for both new and existing fans. It’s a chance for new fans to discover the catalogue of one of the most influential bands in rock music history, and for existing fans, it’s an opportunity to own a newly presented and remastered edition of a unique and sought-after piece of The Clash’s history. Because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good excuse to rebuy the same songs they’ve owned for decades?

Tracklisting and Formats

The compilation features a fantastic tracklist, including Rock the Casbah, Clampdown, Train in Vain (Stand by Me), and Should I Stay or Should I Go, among others. It will be released on limited edition red vinyl and orange vinyl, alongside CD and digital formats, because the music industry loves a good format frenzy. And, because we all need a little extra something, a special poster is available exclusively with all purchases of the orange vinyl from The Clash’s online store. Because, why not?

The Farewell Tour Count Remains Stagnant

While The Clash may not be reuniting for a 40th-anniversary tour (yet), The World According To The Clash is a welcome addition to their legacy. It’s a testament to the band’s enduring influence and a reminder that, in the music industry, you’re never truly retired – you’re just waiting for the next opportunity to re-release your back catalogue. Somewhere, a record label executive felt a disturbance in the royalties, and the wheels are already turning for the next deluxe edition. The farewell tour count has officially entered scientific notation, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Music historians are preparing fresh shelves for the box set, and a vinyl pressing plant somewhere just burst into tears at the thought of all the new records they’ll have to press. Nobody truly retires in this industry; they merely wait for the next chance to cash in on their legacy. Nature is healing, and another deluxe edition has appeared – it’s just another day in the music industry.
