And so, another Early Access title has graced our screens, because of course it has. This time, it’s Jackbox Games’ Trivia Murder Party 3, a game that promises to bring the thrill of being murdered at a summer camp to the comfort of your own home. Set to release in 2027, I got a chance to try out the Early Access and see if it’s worth getting excited about. Spoiler alert: it’s a party game, so I’m already skeptical. With over 800 new trivia questions, new Killing Floor punishments, online matchmaking, 3D graphics, customizable dolls, and a progression system, it’s like they’re trying to make me care about the game or something.
What’s New in Trivia Murder Party 3
One of the first things I noticed when booting up Trivia Murder Party 3 was the significant improvement in graphics. Gone are the 2D backdrops and still-image Voodoo avatars, replaced by 3D environments and animated doll avatars that are just begging to be murdered. The overall quality is a night-and-day difference from the previous installment, and I’m not just saying that because I’m a graphics snob. The game also features a new progression system, because what’s a game without a progression system, right? Players can earn experience points to level up and unlock clothing items for their dolls, because customization is key in any game.
Killing Floor Punishments
The Killing Floor returns in Trivia Murder Party 3, and it’s just as sadistic as ever. Players who answer questions incorrectly are sent to the Killing Floor, where they must survive a punishment to remain alive in the game. I mean, who doesn’t love a good punishment? Some of the punishments I witnessed during Early Access include Chalice, Bow and Arrow, and Case, all of which are designed to make you laugh, cry, and possibly question your life choices. My personal favorite is the Bow and Arrow punishment, where safe players must aim their shot to kill a risked player. It’s like a mini-game within a game, and I’m here for it.
Online Matchmaking and Customization
The game also features online matchmaking, where players can match against other players online either solo or with friends in their party. Because what’s a party game without online multiplayer, right? Players can earn extra experience points to level up and unlock clothing items for their dolls, because customization is key in any game. The game also allows players to customize their dolls by creating a Jackbox Games account, which is a great way to make sure you never play with the same-looking doll twice.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, Trivia Murder Party 3 is a game that’s all about murder, mayhem, and possibly learning a thing or two. With its improved graphics, new progression system, and sadistic Killing Floor punishments, it’s a game that’s sure to bring the party to your living room. So, if you’re looking for a game that’s fun, exciting, and possibly a little bit disturbing, then Trivia Murder Party 3 is the game for you. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you. And who knows, maybe by the time the full game launches in 2027, they’ll have added even more features, punishments, and customization options to make the game even more enjoyable. A gamer can dream, right?
