Oh boy, are you guys ready for some earth-shattering news? 🤯 I just can’t contain my excitement… WARRIOR SOUL is working on a new album! 😴 I know, I know, it’s not like we’ve been waiting for this for years or anything. Anyway, frontman Kory Clarke spoke to Dawn Osborne of TotalRock about the status of the recording sessions for the band’s new album, tentatively titled “Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em”. Because, you know, the world was just missing an album with that title. 🙄
So, it turns out that Kory got married and has been busy, but the album is going well. Wow, what a shocking revelation. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hear about Kory’s personal life? 🙄 He also mentioned that there’s a song being featured in Newcastle, and they asked if they could play a track, so he sent them a song that’s not mastered or anything. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to do with an unfinished song – share it with the world. 🤦♂️
The New Gods
Kory also talked about a new song called “The New Gods”, which is highly critical of greedy billionaires. Oh, how original. 🙄 I mean, who hasn’t written a song about that topic? 🤷♂️ He also mentioned that it’s timely to release a song about artificial intelligence, because, you know, that’s not a topic that’s been beaten to death already. 🤖
Circling back to why it’s taking so long to complete “Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em”, Kory said that it’s hard to record the way they’re doing it because everybody’s all over the place. Yeah, no kidding. 🙄 I mean, it’s not like they’re a professional band or anything. He also mentioned that he’s a perfectionist, which is code for “I’m a control freak”. 🙃
Slab City
Kory also talked about a song called “Slab City”, which is about an illegal town where people can just live and do whatever they want. Because, you know, that’s exactly what the world needs – more songs about lawless towns. 🤠 He thought it was cool that people could just live there and do whatever they want, so he wrote a song about it. Wow, what a compelling story. 🙄
When asked if a new song about Donald Trump will make it to the album, Kory said that there’s no specific song about Trump, but there are smatterings of anti-MAGA in it. Oh, joy. 🙄 Because, you know, the world was just missing another song about Trump. 🙃 He also said that he wouldn’t vote for Trump even if he gave him $5,000, which is a bold statement coming from a rockstar. 🤣
Anyway, WARRIOR SOUL released a trio of albums on the Geffen major label during the ’90s, and they’ve been releasing albums non-stop since then. Because, you know, the world needs more WARRIOR SOUL albums. 🙄 They’ve been called “one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most prolific, prophetic and controversial songwriters”, which is code for “they’ve been making music for a long time and some people still care”. 🤷♂️
In conclusion, WARRIOR SOUL is working on a new album, and it’s going to be a game-changer. 🙄 Just kidding, it’s probably going to be more of the same old stuff. 😴 But hey, if you’re a fan of the band, you’ll probably love it. And if you’re not a fan, well, you can just ignore it. 🙃 Either way, it’s not like it’s going to change the world or anything. 🌎
