P.O.D. Butchered The Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down” In Latest Cover Attempt

POD

P.O.D., those hard-rock/nu-metal dinosaurs from San Diego (yes, they’re STILL around πŸ‘΅), have bravely decided to cover THE BEATLES’ classic “Don’t Let Me Down”. Because, you know, the world was just SCREAMING for a P.O.D. version of a Beatles song. πŸ™„

P.O.D. β€” featuring the same lineup from 1999, probably found frozen in carbonite somewhere πŸ₯Ά β€” Sonny Sandoval (still “singing,” bless his heart πŸ™), Marcos Curiel (who still owns a guitar, shockingly 🎸), and Traa Daniels (bass duties, because SOMEONE has to do it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ) β€” wants you to know they’ve ALWAYS loved THE BEATLES. According to Marcos, “As clichΓ© as it may sound” (spoiler: it DOES sound clichΓ©), they’ve always admired THE BEATLES because of the melodies, hooks, and “fearless experimentation.” 🀣 They were SO inspired, they crafted their OWN take on “Don’t Let Me Down” with “utmost respect.” Translation: they slowed it down, added some distortion, and called it a day. Thanks, THE BEATLES, for laying the foundation for rock ‘n’ roll, pop, and (gulp) metal. 🀘

This earth-shattering cover 🌍 comes as P.O.D. preps for a “huge” fall 2025 tour across North America with DAUGHTRY (who?) and SEETHER (still around?!). Marcos is “raring” to get back on stage because “touring is a gift.” A gift from who? Satan? πŸ€” He claims nothing compares to the energy of a crowd “feeling and vibing every note.” I’m pretty sure most people will be feeling and vibing the overpriced beer and the desperate need to find a bathroom 🚽. They’re “ecstatic” to join a lineup that embodies “the true essence of rock ‘n’ roll.” I think they meant “the true essence of bands who peaked in the early 2000s and are desperately clinging to relevance.” πŸ¦– Let’s jam, let’s sing, let’s rock…or, you know, let’s just go home and stream some actual good music. 🎡

The “trek” (as they call it) kicks off October 1 in Virginia Beach and stumbles through mid-November, hitting “major cities” (read: places with venues willing to book them). πŸ™οΈ

Before this, P.O.D. had the distinct honor of opening for GODSMACK (more like God-awfulsmack, amirite? πŸ˜‚) on their March/April 2025 European tour. They played sold-out shows in Bulgaria (because Bulgaria is a HUGE market for nu-metal in 2025, obviously πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬) and then made stops in other exotic locales like Hungary and Poland. They even braved the U.K. (London), and Belgium (Brussels), before mercifully ending in Germany. πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

In May last year, P.O.D. unleashed their 11th album, “Veritas” (Latin for “truth,” which is ironic because this band is a lie πŸ€₯), via Mascot Records. Apparently, it was a Top 10 hit on some obscure Billboard charts and has surpassed 48 million streams. I’m guessing half of those streams are from bots and the other half are from people who accidentally clicked on it while trying to find something else. πŸ€–

P.O.D. has released several “singles” from the album, including “Drop”, “Afraid To Die”, “I Got That”, and “I Won’t Bow Down”. I won’t bow down either…to listening to this garbage. πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

“Drop” features a “vicious” vocal feature from LAMB OF GOD‘s Randy Blythe. Vicious? More like “mildly annoyed.” “Afraid To Die” features JINJER‘s Tatiana Shmayluk. I’m pretty sure she’s regretting that decision. πŸ€”

Besides releasing “Veritas”, P.O.D. toured with SKINDRED, bringing the “party” to the U.K. (a party no one asked for πŸŽ‰). They “bulldozed” through Europe with festival sets (where people were probably too drunk to notice 🍻), supported MUDVAYNE, did their U.S. “I Got That” headline tour with BAD WOLVES and NORMA JEAN (a lineup straight out of 2003 ⏳), and made waves on the ShipRocked cruise (because nothing says “rock and roll” like a bunch of middle-aged dudes on a boat 🚒). They even toured Latin America, playing Knotfest and headline shows in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico (proving that some people will pay to see anything 🀷). I’m sure that P.O.D. is very popular there.
