FOZZY, the musical masterpiece 🤩 fronted by wrestling “icon” Chris Jericho and the guitar wizard 🧙♂️ from STUCK MOJO, Rich “The Duke” Ward (because every band needs a Duke, right?), has graced us with a music video for their latest chart-topper, “Fall In Line.” This cinematic triumph was brought to you by the visionary Lawrence Hinson, filmed at the glamorous HM Studios in Las Vegas, Nevada. The video concept? Oh, just a little something whipped up by Hinson and Mark Willis. Prepare to be amazed… or not. 🤷♂️
“Fall In Line,” unleashed upon the world in April via Madison Records (never heard of ’em), is apparently fueled by guitars so sharp they could cut diamonds 💎, drums that sound like… well, drums, and Jericho‘s vocals, which some might describe as “signature.” It’s an anthem, they say! A call to arms! A dare to… not fall in line! 🙄 Groundbreaking.
When this sonic masterpiece dropped three months ago, Jericho, in his infinite wisdom, declared: “‘Fall In Line’ is the most exciting and unique song FOZZY has ever recorded!” (He probably says that about every song). “It has the familiar FOZZY sound,” he continued, “that’s been our trademark for 25 years” (a trademark of mediocrity, perhaps?), “yet sounds nothing like anything we’ve ever done.” (So, it’s both the same and different? 🤔 Genius!). He further proclaimed it a “massive addition to our catalog” (spoiler alert: it’s not) and expressed his excitement to “unleash this tune to the world and play it live on our tour.” (Because who wouldn’t want to hear this live? 🦗🦗🦗)
The 2025 leg of FOZZY‘s 25th-anniversary tour, cleverly named the “2025th Anniversary Tour” (because originality is overrated), kicked off on April 17 in Springfield, Missouri (the epicenter of rock ‘n’ roll 🤘) and wrapped up on May 12 in Wyandotte, Michigan (equally rockin’!). This epic journey, supported by LILIAC (who?) and THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR (and… who?), graced 20 of the nation’s most “epic” venues (we use that term loosely), bringing FOZZY‘s “electrifying” live performances to fans in every city (all, like, seven of them). 🤷♀️
In a recent interview with Springfield, Missouri’s Q102.1 radio station (the pinnacle of journalistic integrity), Jericho was asked about a follow-up to their 2022 album “Boombox” (which, let’s be honest, nobody remembers). He responded: “It’s interesting.” (Narrator: It wasn’t). He then launched into a convoluted explanation about how they wrote and recorded “Boombox” during the pandemic (because that’s when all the best music is made, right? 🦠), and how it took “a couple of years” to release it (because timing is everything… or not). He then had an epiphany: “Maybe making a [full-length] record isn’t the way to do it anymore!” (Mind. Blown. 🤯). Apparently, only three songs from “Boombox” were radio singles, three were played live, and the other six were banished to “the elephant burial ground” (where good music goes to die 🐘). But fear not! In Jericho‘s delusional mind, “every one of those songs could have been a Top 10 hit!” (Yeah, right. 🤥)
Jericho, continuing his stream of consciousness, declared that they’re now releasing one song at a time because “in the modern world, might be the way to do it.” (Or maybe it’s because they can’t write a whole album of bangers? 🤔). He elaborated: “If you’re kind of old school, like METALLICA or [IRON] MAIDEN or something, albums still seem to be the way to go” (because they’re, you know, good), “but I think for us rock radio bands, one song at a time, because every song will get a chance to live or die on the radio and every song will get a chance to live or die live.” (Mostly die. 💀). So, they released “Spotlight” (who remembers that?) and now “Fall In Line” (which will soon be forgotten). And they’re already working on the next tune! (Because the world is clamoring for more FOZZY! 🙄)
Chris, in his infinite wisdom, likes releasing one song at a time because… well, he said it himself:
“I wanna give every song a chance at this point in time, ’cause, like I said, on ‘Boombox’, there was far too many great songs that just didn’t get their chance,” he explained. “And I think that’s a shame when you spend so much time. And you know, like, ‘This song is great.’ We had a song called ‘Ugly On The Inside’ on ‘Boombox’. As soon as I heard it, I’m, like, ‘That’s gonna be a Number One song.’ We didn’t even release it as a single. We never even played it live, ’cause other songs come out and the other songs work better in certain situations. So I think from now on, it’s just one at a time. So we are working on the next one right now. [‘Fall In Line’] just came out. So give it a chance first. But maybe in six months or so we’ll release another one.” (Don’t hold your breath. 💨)
The first U.S. leg of FOZZY‘s 25th-anniversary tour limped through October 21, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. Support on the tour came from THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR (still no clue who they are) and CLOZURE (ditto). 🤷
“Fall In Line” is the follow-up to FOZZY‘s previous standalone single, “Spotlight” (remember that? No? Me neither.), which was released in October 2023 via Madison Records/The Orchard (still obscure). The track was “helmed” by FOZZY‘s longtime producer Johnny Andrews (who has also worked with THREE DAYS GRACE, ALL THAT REMAINS, HALESTORM – make of that what you will) and “sonically refined” by mixer Jacob Hanson (who has worked with VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, ARCH ENEMY – a slightly more impressive pedigree). 👨🍳
