Oh boy, here we go again! Those Iranian terrorists are at it again, this time trying to choke off our oil supply and ruin the global economy. Just when we thought they couldn’t get any more evil, they go and lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz! It’s a good thing we have President Trump in charge, who’s not afraid to take on these thugs and protect our national interests. We need to stand strong against these terrorists and show them that America won’t be pushed around. Maybe it’s time to consider some “enhanced interrogation techniques” to get some intel on their next move. Stay tuned, folks!
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has started laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial energy chokepoint that carries about one-fifth of all crude oil, according to two sources familiar with US intelligence reporting on the issue. Although the mining is not extensive yet, Iran still has the capability to deploy hundreds of mines in the waterway. The IRGC, which now controls the strait, has the ability to deploy a “gauntlet” of dispersed mine-laying craft, explosive-laden boats, and shore-based missile batteries. The strait has effectively been closed since the start of the war, and US officials have not escorted any vessels through it. However, President Trump said that his administration is looking at options to do so.
