Kaleidoscope Entertainment, bless their cotton socks, have graced us with a trailer for Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror. Yes, another documentary about that film you either love or pretend to love to seem quirky. Get ready to relive the “magic” in cinemas across the UK & Ireland from October 3rd. 🗓️

So, this SXSW “hit” (because everything at SXSW is automatically a masterpiece, right? 😉) dives deep into the “cult phenomenon” that is Rocky Horror. Apparently, we haven’t had enough of it yet. They’ve assembled an “extraordinary” cast of contributors, which I’m sure is just as thrilling as watching paint dry. 🎨

From its “humble” beginnings (because every mega-hit was once a tiny, precious underdog 🙄) as a London fringe theatre play to its “meteoric rise” (because subtlety is for losers), this is supposedly the ULTIMATE story of the Rocky Horror Show. With “intimate access” (read: carefully curated soundbites) to its creator Richard O’Brien and other “major players” like Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and Lou Adler, this documentary will explore what makes it “so singular.” Prepare for groundbreaking and transgressive themes, iconic performances (eye roll), and epic songs that DEFINITELY took over popular culture (if you were, like, 12 in 1975). 🎤

Adding an “extra personal layer” (because nepotism is always a good look), Strange Journey is directed by Linus O’Brien, son of the legendary Richard O’Brien. Because who better to dissect a cult classic than the guy who grew up hearing about it at the dinner table? 👨‍👩‍👦

The documentary features “revelatory” interviews (prepare for mild insights!) from the film’s original cast, including Tim Curry (Clue, It), Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking), Barry Bostwick (Megaforce, Spin City), Patricia Quinn (Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, The Lords of Salem), and Nell Campbell (Great Expectations, Shock Treatment). So basically, everyone who still answers their agent’s calls. 📞

And because we need to appeal to the youths, celebrity fans like Jack Black (A Minecraft Movie, School of Rock) and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Trixie Mattel also make an appearance, sharing “deeply personal reflections” on Rocky Horror’s “cultural impact.” Get ready for some performative wokeness and forced enthusiasm! 🎭

If, for some inexplicable reason, you’re still interested, tickets are available here. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. ⚠️
