Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats have announced a new album, Shapes of Midnight, due out September 18th from Killer Candy Records. Ahead of the album’s release, the band has unveiled the title track as the LP’s second single.
Album Details
The band Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats take on a more active-tense sense of boogie to their doomy sound in “Shapes of Midnight”, restoring speed to what Sabbath once slowed down. They maintain their evil funhouse vibes, however, living in that same retro horror space that Ghost once occupied before cleaning up their sound. The song features a psych-prog middle section that gestures suddenly to the space rock of Hawkwind, a heady and fitting addition to their sound continuing on from their synth-driven album Nell’ Ora Blu.
Per the band, Shapes of Midnight returns to the guitar-forward approach of their earlier albums with the addition of the confidence behind the psychedelic synth work of their recent material, a hybrid shown successful on this title track.
Upcoming Tour and Releases
The title track follows the release of lead single “Don’t Let It Control You,” which arrived in April. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats are currently preparing for a UK tour to take place in November, with The Wytches as support.
