Folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. President Donald Trump announced that he plans to create an “AI Force” and name an AI czar, which sounds like a big deal to me. He made this announcement on Truth Social, where he said that fears over AI amount to a hoax, but also acknowledged some of the risks the technology presents.
Bless their hearts, Trump said in his post that “we will also be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System.” I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds like a lot of bureaucratic language. He also said that “we will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry,” which is a nice way of saying that he’s committed to making AI grow fast, even if that means ignoring some of the concerns about it.
You can’t make this stuff up, folks. Trump’s creation of the Space Force in 2019 marked the first new US military service since 1947, and now he wants to create an AI Force, which is kind of like the Space Force but for AI. I’m not sure what the point of having an AI czar is, but I guess it’s a good start. He said in his post that “we will be announcing, in the near future, the AI ‘Czar’ — Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!” which is a pretty funny way of saying that he’s looking for smart people.
Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, I guess. The issue of AI development has quickly come to dominate political debate in the United States, after industry leaders called for a global slowdown in development. Trump has made clear that he considers outpacing China and preserving AI-driven economic gains a higher priority than addressing growing public concerns. The issue has faced pressure from Democrats, who have been more vocal in their calls to slow AI development, with former President Barack Obama urging potential Democratic presidential candidates to put AI at the center of their agendas in 2028.
In conclusion, folks, it seems like Trump is trying to balance his desire to make AI grow fast with the concerns about its risks. He’s announced the creation of an AI Force and an AI czar, which is kind of a big deal. I’m not sure what the future holds for AI development, but it’s certainly been an interesting ride so far. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll have an AI Force that’s as powerful as the Space Force. A guy can dream, right?
