“That’s Nonsense”: Sen. Coons Reacts to Energy Secretary’s Claim That War Fallout Is “Short-Term Pain”

In a stunning display of political theater, Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) has once again proven why Democrats are the masters of saying “that’s nonsense” to everything that doesn’t fit their narrative. This time, he’s taking aim at Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s perfectly reasonable assessment that any fallout from a potential war with Iran would be nothing more than “short-term pain.” Because, of course, in the Democratic playbook, war is always the worst thing ever—unless it’s a war on traditional values, the Constitution, or common sense.

Coons, who clearly hasn’t been paying attention to the fact that Donald Trump is currently in his second term as President of the United States, demanded that the Trump administration explain how much this war is costing. Newsflash, Senator: the Trump administration doesn’t need to explain anything to you. They’re too busy making America great again while you and your liberal pals are busy crying about oil prices and Middle Eastern strikes.

Speaking with CNN’s John Berman—because where else would a Democrat go to complain about everything?—Coons whined about rising oil prices and the latest strikes across the Middle East. But let’s be real: if you’re worried about oil prices, maybe you should be thanking Trump for his energy policies instead of bashing him. Under his leadership, America became energy independent, and gas prices were lower than a Democrat’s approval rating.

The truth is, Coons and his fellow Democrats are just scared of a strong America. They’d rather bow to Iran and let them build nuclear weapons than stand up for our allies and our values. But Trump isn’t having it. He’s the kind of leader who says, “Enough is enough,” and takes action. And if that means a little “short-term pain” to secure long-term peace and prosperity, so be it.

So, Senator Coons, here’s a suggestion: instead of crying “nonsense” every time someone proposes a solution, why not try supporting the President and his efforts to keep America safe? Or is that too much to ask from a Democrat?
