Oh no, the metal world is shaken to its core: Dom Lawson, the renowned UK metal journalist, has suffered a heart attack at the Bloodstock Open Air festival! 🤯 I mean, who wouldn’t want to have a heart attack at a metal festival, right? It’s not like it’s a traumatic experience or anything. Anyway, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Dom with his medical expenses, because, you know, healthcare can be expensive, especially when you’re a freelance writer and can’t exactly take on new projects while you’re busy recovering from a heart attack. 🤑

So, here’s what happened: Dom Lawson, who writes for BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Metal Hammer, Prog, The Guardian, and other media outlets, had a heart attack at the Bloodstock Open Air festival and was rushed to the hospital. I guess that’s one way to get out of writing a festival review. He’s currently awaiting surgery and will have to spend weeks or even months resting and recuperating, which means he won’t be able to take on freelance work. I mean, who needs work when you can just binge-watch Netflix and eat Cheetos all day, right?

The GoFundMe Campaign

The GoFundMe campaign, set up by Dom’s friend Alex, aims to raise £6,600 (approximately $8,900) to help Dom with his medical expenses. Because, you know, heart attacks are expensive, and Dom won’t be able to work for a while. I’m sure it’s not like he’ll be using the money to buy a new guitar or something. 😂 Dom revealed his heart attack in a social media post, writing: “Unfortunately, I had a heart attack on Sunday and was rushed to hospital. Managed to avoid dying, so that was a good start. Looks like I will be having some kind of surgery in the near future. Close shave but you won’t get rid of me that easily.” Yeah, because the world really needs more metal journalists, right?

He also added: “Life’s a funny old cunt, isn’t it? Also, heart attacks fucking hurt. Would not recommend.” Wow, what a great review of heart attacks! I’m sure it’ll be a bestselling book: “Heart Attacks: A Comedy of Errors”. 📚

Dom’s Career

Dom began his career as a music journalist in 1999, writing for Kerrang! for seven years before moving to Metal Hammer and Prog magazines in 2007. He’s also worked as editor-at-large at Metal Hammer and has been a longtime radio host for TotalRock, where he currently hosts “The Dompilation Tapes”, a show dedicated to excellent music from pretty much each and every genre you can think of. Yeah, because metal journalists are just known for their eclectic taste in music. 🙄

So, if you want to help Dom out, you can donate to his GoFundMe campaign. Because, you know, every little bit helps, and who doesn’t love a good charity case? 🤑 Just don’t expect him to write any articles about the experience, because, you know, heart attacks are traumatic and all that. 😔

In conclusion, Dom Lawson had a heart attack, and now he needs your money. Because, you know, that’s what friends are for, right? 🤑 Just kidding, sort of. Seriously though, get well soon, Dom, and don’t have another heart attack at a metal festival, okay? 🤘
