P.O.D. Guitarist Declares Rock Fans Too Dumb to See Beyond Power Chords

pod

OMG! 🙄 Marcos Curiel from P.O.D. (Still a band?!) gave an interview where he basically said they’re musical geniuses who were ahead of their time. Yeah, okay, Marcos. Tell me another one while I listen to some REAL music, like… uh… Nickelback. 🤣

So, apparently, according to this “Rock Brothers Podcast” (never heard of it, must be super underground and cool 😎), Marcos was whining about how no one understood P.O.D. back in the day. He said something about “taboo” because of their “spiritual angle” and “rap angle” and “ethnic angle” and even “reggae.” Dude, it’s called throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. Spoiler alert: not much stuck. 🙊

He whined that metalheads have “tunnel vision.” Says the guy who’s been playing the same three chords for 30 years! 🤣 He also said they “stayed consistent.” Yeah, consistently mediocre. 😴 He then dared to compare themselves to RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, BODY COUNT, and the Chili Peppers. Dude, stop. Just stop. You’re embarrassing yourself. Those bands are legends. P.O.D. is… well, P.O.D. is P.O.D. 🤷‍♀️

Marcos also bragged that everyone knows it’s them when they hear their music, whether you love them or hate them. Okay, I’ll give him that. It’s hard to mistake that nu-metal cringe for anything else. 😬 He said they weren’t “chasing the carrot.” Translation: they tried to be trendy and failed miserably, so now they’re pretending they didn’t want to be popular anyway. 🥕

He then rambled about how they were doing “features” before it was cool. They wanted H.R. from BAD BRAINS and Eek-A-Mouse on their tracks, and the label was like, “WTF, guys?” Good call, label! Imagine ruining a perfectly awful P.O.D. song with *more* awfulness. 😵‍💫 Now everyone’s doing features, according to Marcos. Yeah, because everyone wants to be as “cutting edge” as P.O.D. was in 2001. NOT.

He went on to say that their evolution is “organic” and not “contrived.” LOL. If by “organic” you mean “desperately trying to stay relevant,” then sure, Marcos. He also claimed that other bands are trying too hard and don’t sound “fresh.” Ironic, considering P.O.D. sounds like they’ve been stuck in a time capsule since Y2K. ⏳

Apparently, P.O.D. toured Europe with GODSMACK. I feel sorry for Europe. 😔 They also released an album called “Veritas” (Latin for “truth,” how ironic). It was a “Top 10 hit” on some obscure Billboard charts. Congrats, guys! 🎉 I’m sure your moms are proud.

They released a bunch of singles, including “Drop” featuring Randy Blythe from LAMB OF GOD and “Afraid To Die” featuring Tatiana Shmayluk from JINJER. Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess. Trying to leech off some actual talent to stay relevant. Sad! 😢

And get this: they toured with SKINDRED, played some festivals, supported MUDVAYNE (another band I forgot existed), and even went on a cruise. Sounds like a mid-life crisis tour to me. 🛥️ They also toured Latin America. Hopefully, they apologized for their music while they were there. 🙏

In conclusion, P.O.D. is still a band, and Marcos Curiel is still delusional. The end. 🎬
