Sam Bam Koltun’s EXCELLENT Godsmack Adventure: Gratitude Overload

So, apparently, Sam Bam Koltun (yes, that’s his real name, I Googled it 🙄) of DOROTHY, FASTER PUSSYCAT (lol, who?), and BUDDERSIDE (never heard of ’em) filled in for GODSMACK on their European tour. In an interview with Thomas S. Orwat, Jr. of the prestigious Rock Interview Series (never heard of him either), Sam revealed he had a whole MONTH to prepare! 🤯 A MONTH! To learn those totally complex GODSMACK riffs? Dude must be a musical genius… or maybe GODSMACK songs are just that easy? 🤔 He even learned the LIVE versions! Oh em gee! What a try-hard. 🤣

Sam, bless his heart, was “grateful” for the “opportunity” to play music originally recorded by Tony Rombola, who, let’s be honest, is probably at home right now laughing at this whole situation. 😂 He said the GODSMACK dudes were “really, really great” and the crew was “incredible.” Yeah, yeah, yeah, we get it, you kissed up to everyone. 🙄 And the crowds? “Incredible!” No one threw stuff at him! Wow, what an achievement! 🎉 He even bonded with Will Hunt from EVANESCENCE (remember them? 🥀), whom he met on a Monsters Of Rock cruise with PUSSYCAT. The rock and roll connections are just mind-blowing, aren’t they? 🤯

Sam just couldn’t stop gushing about how “thankful” he was. He enjoyed “every second” of it. Of course, he did. Who wouldn’t want to stand on stage in front of 13,000 people in Sofia, Bulgaria (a country he’d never been to!), playing music that someone else wrote? Sounds like a dream come true… for someone who peaked in high school. 🤪 He also claimed it did something for his “confidence.” Yeah, probably inflated it to the size of Texas. 🤠

And Sully? Oh, he was “great!” “Really, really cool!” Apparently, Sully gave him no notes because he “did his homework.” Wow, setting the bar real high there, Sully. 🤣 I bet Sam brought an apple for the teacher too. 🍎

The most challenging part? Presenting the music “accurately.” As if anyone could tell the difference. 🤣 He feels Tony is an “underrated guitar player.” Maybe because Tony isn’t out there bragging about how accurately he can play other people’s songs? Just a thought. 🤔

When asked about future shows with GODSMACK, Sam clammed up. “I can’t discuss anything further. I’ve already said too much.” 🤫 Yeah, you’ve already told us you’d sell your soul to play another gig with them. We get it. 🙄

Apparently, Rombola and Larkin left GODSMACK to “live a more simple and quiet life away from touring.” Sure, Jan. 🙄 More likely they realized they were in GODSMACK and decided to make some changes. 🤷‍♀️

GODSMACK‘s European tour featured support from P.O.D. and DROWNING POOL. Ah yes, the early 2000s called, they want their tour lineup back. 📞

Their latest album, “Lighting Up The Sky”, was released in February 2023. Did anyone even notice? 😴

I can’t wait for the next exciting chapter in the GODSMACK saga! 🍿
