So, apparently, according to PipemanRadio at the totally important Bloodstock Open Air festival (never heard of it), STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos decided to share some profound thoughts about Ozzy Osbourne, who allegedly “died” last month at the ripe old age of 76. I mean, who even remembers Ozzy, right?
Anyway, Tony (who?) said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET – because who else would care?): “One of the coolest things that I can scratch off the list of shit I never thought would happen – we got to do a photo shoot with Ozzy back before our first Ozzfest in ’99.” Oh wow, a photo shoot! Groundbreaking stuff, Tony. 🙄 “And we’re hanging out in our dressing room waiting for [legendary rock photographer] Ross Halfin to set up the photo shoot. And Ozzy just comes in and he just sits down and hangs out with us and starts telling us stories about BLACK SABBATH days, how he’d shoot heroin in his neck behind Tony Iommi’s Marshall stacks.” Wait, what? Heroin? In the NECK? 😂 Clearly, Ozzy was just misunderstood, right? “And we’re all just like little kids listening to their grandpa tell stories. We were, like, ‘Whoa, cool.'” Yeah, because heroin stories are totally appropriate for little kids. 🤦♂️ “And it’s just, like, he didn’t have to do that. He was just such a cool dude, and he was awesome to us. And just getting to do Ozzfest that year was such a life-changing event for us. And I’m eternally grateful to him and Sharon for giving us that opportunity.” Oh, bless your heart, Tony. So touching. 😭
Apparently, Ozzy and his lovely wife/manager Sharon started Ozzfest because Ozzy couldn’t get into Lollapalooza. Can you imagine being rejected from Lollapalooza? The horror! 😂 The first Ozzfest included MARILYN MANSON and PANTERA. So basically, a bunch of has-beens and never-weres. 😉
Oh, and get this: Ozzy “died” on July 22 of a heart attack. But wait, there’s more! His death certificate also said he had coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. So basically, he was falling apart. Shocker. 🤣
They had a “private” funeral for Ozzy on his estate in England. Only 110 people showed up, including his SABBATH bandmates, Robert Trujillo (METALLICA – who cares?), Rob Zombie (still alive?), Zakk Wylde (more like Zzzzz Wylde😴), Marilyn Manson (still trying to be edgy?), and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT – why are they still a thing?). Seriously, what a glamorous guest list. 💅
The day before the funeral, some fans gathered in Birmingham to “pay tribute” to Ozzy. Sharon and the kids showed up for the “emotional” tribute. I’m sure they were thrilled.🙄
Ozzy‘s “death” came a little after his “final” performance with BLACK SABBATH. They played four songs for 40,000 people and 5.8 million on a livestream. Ozzy even played a solo set while sitting on a bat-adorned throne. Because, you know, he’s Ozzy. 🦇So metal.🤘
