Trump’s Alternate Facts Strike Again

Trump's Alternate Facts Strike Again

Folks, I’m reading this article about President Trump’s latest speech, and I almost spilled my coffee. He posted on social media that “everybody” stayed until the end of his speech at the Great American State Fair in Washington, DC. Yeah, right. I mean, I’ve seen some stretchers in my time, but this one takes the cake. According to a video posted by The Bulwark, a media outlet that’s not exactly a fan of Trump, dozens of people were streaming out of the event about 17 minutes into his 28-minute address. And CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, who was there interviewing attendees, says he saw hundreds of people heading to the exits as Trump’s speech was ongoing.

Now, I’m not saying that’s a huge deal or anything. People have jobs, families, and obligations, and it’s not like they’re missing out on the best thing since sliced bread. But Trump’s the one who said “everybody” stayed until he was done, and that just didn’t happen. I mean, come on, Donie O’Sullivan was right there, and he saw people leaving left and right. It’s not like Trump was speaking to a deserted island or something.

I guess what’s interesting is that Trump has a history of making these kinds of claims. He’s said before that “nobody leaves” his events early, and that’s just not true. There are plenty of examples of people leaving his rallies and speeches before they’re over. The Detroit Free Press noted that at one event in Michigan, the crowd grew noticeably thinner as the speech went on. The New York Times said that at an event in North Carolina, people were leaving within five minutes of the start of his speech. And The Washington Post wrote a whole story about how scores of people were leaving early from Trump events in 2024.

Now, I’m not sure why Trump feels the need to exaggerate like this. Maybe he’s just trying to make himself sound more popular than he actually is. But it’s pretty obvious that he’s not telling the truth. And it’s not like it’s a big deal or anything, but it’s just kind of…sad. I mean, can’t the guy just be honest for once?

It’s also kind of funny that Trump has said this so many times before, and it’s always been proven wrong. At a rally in Michigan, he even caught himself saying that people were leaving, and then tried to cover it up by saying they were just going to take post-speech pictures with him. Which, of course, is not true. It’s just kind of amazing that he keeps making these claims, even when they’re so easily disproven.

In conclusion, it looks like Trump’s at it again, making claims that just aren’t true. And while it’s not a huge deal, it’s just kind of annoying. I mean, can’t he just be honest for once? But I guess that’s just not in his nature. Oh well, at least it gives me something to chuckle about while I’m drinking my coffee. And who knows, maybe someday he’ll learn to tell the truth, but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.
