I just can’t even contain my excitement right now. I mean, who needs actual music when you can just hear about someone writing songs? 🙄 NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen has revealed to Metal Hammer magazine that he has penned six tracks for the band’s upcoming eleventh studio album. Wow, I bet those songs are just going to be, like, totally epic and not at all a rehashing of their previous work or anything 🙃.
According to Holopainen, “I feel more inspired than ever — proof of that is that I’ve already got six new NIGHTWISH songs done.” Ah, yes, because nothing says “inspiration” like sitting at a keyboard and coming up with six songs that will probably sound just like all the other NIGHTWISH songs 🤷♂️. He also mentioned that the band has “reserved things” for 2027, which is just a fancy way of saying they’ve booked some studio time and might actually release an album someday 📆.
The Plot Thickens
But wait, there’s more! Tuomas went on to say that the band won’t be touring anytime soon, because, you know, they need to focus on making more music and not, you know, actually performing it live for their fans 🎟️. I mean, who needs live music when you can just listen to a recording, right? 🎧 And in a shocking turn of events, Floor Jansen told Sonic Seducer magazine that there’s “nothing planned” for the band in the coming months. What a surprise 🙄.
It’s not like NIGHTWISH has a history of taking long breaks or anything 🙃. I mean, they’ve only been on hiatus for, what, a year now? 🤔 And it’s not like they’ve been using this time to work on new music or anything 🎸. Oh wait, that’s exactly what they’ve been doing 🤦♂️. Troy Donockley, the band’s multi-instrumentalist, told Rock Hard Greece that the band’s decision to take a break was due to the fact that they were in danger of burning out from doing too much 🤯. Yeah, because touring and making music is just so exhausting 🏋️♀️.
A Look Back
In other news, NIGHTWISH’s last album, “Yesterwynde”, was released in September 2024 to great acclaim 🎉. And by “great acclaim”, I mean it was just another NIGHTWISH album 🤷♂️. The band has also been through some changes in recent years, including the addition of Jukka Koskinen as an official member 🤝. And who could forget Floor Jansen’s brave battle with breast cancer 🎗️? She’s since been declared cancer-free and is even releasing a new solo album, “Hytress”, in January 2027 🎸.
So, to sum it all up, NIGHTWISH is working on new music, but don’t expect to see them live anytime soon 🎟️. Unless, of course, you’re one of the lucky few who gets to see Floor Jansen on her solo tour 🎤. But let’s be real, who needs NIGHTWISH when you can just listen to their albums on repeat and pretend you’re at a live show 🎧? 🤣
