Grand Canyon Now Has Free Fossil Exhibit Courtesy of Nature

Grand Canyon Now Has Free Fossil Exhibit Courtesy of Nature

Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about the latest discovery in the Grand Canyon, and I have to say, it’s a bit of a somber morning. Human remains were found near Crystal Rapid on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, according to the National Park Service. I mean, you can’t just stumble upon something like that and not feel a little down, you know? The remains have been recovered and sent to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, and I’m sure they’re working hard to figure out what happened.

The National Park Service didn’t release any additional information about the remains, which is understandable, but it does leave me wondering what’s going on. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the investigation turns up. The medical examiner’s office is “working closely” with the park service, so that’s good to know. I’m sure they’re doing their best to get to the bottom of things.

The remains were found near Crystal Rapid, which is about 10 miles downstream from Phantom Ranch. Now, I know that area was hit hard by the August 29 flash flood, which was just devastating. Two people were killed, and a third hiker, Timothy Allen Smith, is still missing. It’s just heartbreaking, folks. I can only imagine what the families of those affected are going through.

Smith’s wife, Carrie Smith, posted on Facebook asking people to be considerate of those handling the situation, which is completely understandable. I mean, can you imagine what she’s going through? She’s still holding out hope that her husband will be found, and I don’t blame her one bit. She also asked people to “continue to pray alongside us!” which is just so sweet. I’m sure she appreciates all the support she can get during this difficult time.

It’s just one of those stories that makes you stop and think, you know? Life is precious, and we should appreciate every moment we have with our loved ones. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll hear more about this story as it develops, but for now, let’s just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Grand Canyon and the importance of being safe and aware of our surroundings. And on a lighter note, I’m glad I didn’t spill my coffee while reading this article – that would have been a real mess!
