Look who's rocking a fancy new passport pic now

Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about the latest news, and I have to say, this one’s a doozy. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new rendering of a special commemorative US passport bearing his likeness, and I’m not sure what to make of it. The passport, which is part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, features a limited-edition design with custom artwork and enhanced images on the front, back, and inside covers. Trump posted a sample passport page on Truth Social, which shows an image of him looming over the Resolute Desk, with the text of the original Declaration of Independence in the background and his signature on the bottom.

I mean, you can’t deny that Trump knows how to make an entrance, and this passport design is certainly…eye-catching. The image of him on the passport appears to be based on his portrait from the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, and it’s definitely a unique touch. But what really caught my attention was the phrase “Welcome, but be good!” that Trump posted along with the image. I’m not sure what that’s supposed to mean, but I’m guessing it’s not a warning to potential tourists to behave themselves.

The new passport is set to be the default passport for those who renew their passports in person at the Washington Passport Agency, and it will feature a different image of Trump than the one released by the State Department earlier this year. I’m not sure what the story is behind the different images, but I’m sure it’ll all come out in the wash. The White House has directed questions to the State Department, and CNN has reached out for comment, so we’ll just have to wait and see what’s going on.

I have to say, though, that I’m a bit amused by the whole thing. I mean, who wouldn’t want a passport with a picture of the President on it? It’s like having a celebrity endorsement, right? And the fact that it’s a limited-edition design makes it sound like a collectors’ item or something. I’m not sure if I’d want to carry around a passport with Trump’s picture on it, but hey, to each their own.

The current design of US passports features an image of Percy Moran’s painting of Francis Scott Key, which is a nice touch, but I suppose it’s time for a change. The new design will definitely be…memorable, and it’ll likely be a conversation starter for travelers. And who knows, maybe it’ll even become a collector’s item someday.

In the end, it’s just a passport, folks. It’s not like it’s going to change the world or anything. But hey, if you’re a fan of Trump, you might want to get your hands on one of these limited-edition passports. Just don’t forget to be good, whatever that means. And that’s the story of the new commemorative US passport, folks – a unique blend of patriotism, politics, and…well, Trump. May it bring a smile to your face, and may your travels be safe and enjoyable, with or without the President’s picture on your passport.
