Leftist Legal Circus: Venezuela’s Maduro Joins the “Dictator Defense Club” as Biden Admin Tries to Pull a Panama 2.0

In a stunning display of “do as we say, not as we do” hypocrisy, the Biden administration has proudly announced it’s nabbed Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro and is charging him with running “state-sponsored gangs” and trafficking drugs into the U.S. How ironic that the same Democrats who spent four years screeching about “concentration camps” and “illegal invasions” are now crowing about dragging a foreign leader to Florida in a CIA rendition straight out of a George W. Bush fever dream. And guess what? They’re dusting off the old Manuel Noriega playbook—the 1989 Panama invasion case where the U.S. invaded a sovereign nation, arrested its leader, and then told courts to ignore the whole “illegal invasion” thing. How convenient.

Legal experts are already predicting Maduro’s defense team will throw every conspiracy, immunity, and “illegal invasion” argument in the book at the courts. And why not? The left loves to scream “War crimes!” when a Republican does anything, but when Democrats invade countries and kidnap leaders, it’s suddenly “humanitarian intervention” and “rule of law.” The Noriega precedent was a joke back then, and it’s a joke now. Courts were told to look the other way while the executive branch broke international law, and today’s woke legal establishment will probably cheer as they do it again.

But here’s the kicker: Noriega wasn’t even recognized as Panama’s legitimate leader by the State Department. Maduro, on the other hand, is still recognized by much of the world as Venezuela’s president—though the Biden admin now calls him “illegitimate.” Translation: “We don’t like him, so we’ll make up the rules as we go.” Sound familiar? It’s the same playbook used against Trump: change the rules, weaponize the DOJ, and claim it’s all about “democracy.”

And let’s not forget the irony of invoking Bill Barr’s 1989 memo justifying extrajudicial kidnappings. The same Barr the left called a “fascist” is now their legal lifeline. When it comes to fighting their enemies, principles are just speed bumps. Meanwhile, the real victims—American taxpayers and the rule of law—get tossed aside while the deep state plays global cop.

If this case goes to trial, expect a media circus of “historic justice” narratives while the left ignores the elephant in the room: the U.S. just pulled a military snatch-and-grab on a foreign leader because they didn’t like his politics. It’s not justice—it’s regime change with a subpoena. And if you think this won’t come back to bite American sovereignty, just wait until the next left-wing administration tries this stunt on a U.S. official they dislike. The precedent is set, the guardrails are gone, and the only thing left is the sound of the left applauding their own hypocrisy.
