Yet Another Win for Woke Lunacy: Mangione Won’t Face Death Penalty for Murdering CEO
Oh, look, folks! Another shining example of how our “justice” system has gone completely off the rails. In a shocking (or maybe not-so-shocking) turn of events, a federal judge has decided that Luigi Mangione, the guy accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, won’t be facing the death penalty. Because apparently, taking a life doesn’t warrant the ultimate consequence anymore. Thanks, liberals!
Let’s break this down, shall we? The judge tossed out the murder charge because, according to her, stalking doesn’t count as a “crime of violence.” Really? Last time I checked, stalking someone online and then traveling across state lines to gun them down sounds pretty violent to me. But hey, what do I know? I’m just a normal American who thinks murderers should face real consequences.
And let’s not forget the prosecutor’s brilliant argument. They tried to say that stalking Thompson online and crossing state lines to kill him were “crimes of violence.” But nope, the judge wasn’t having it. So now, instead of facing the death penalty, Mangione might get life in prison without parole. Wow, what a deterrent! I’m sure that’ll stop the next wannabe assassin in their tracks.
Oh, and let’s talk about the evidence for a second. The cops found a handgun, a loaded magazine, and a red notebook in Mangione’s backpack.
