Chad Gray, the king of metal, is back with his new solo project, “30 Years Of Madness” 🤯💥, and we’re not sure if we’re excited or just confused 🤔. In a recent interview with Jesea Lee, Gray talked about his new live appearances, which feature a mix of songs from his bands MUDVAYNE and HELLYEAH, as well as some other surprises 🎉. When asked if he’s open to releasing new music under his own name, Gray said, “I’m certainly not opposed to it 🙅♂️,” which is just a fancy way of saying, “I’ll do whatever makes me money 💸.”
Gray also talked about the disappointing performance of MUDVAYNE’s latest singles, “Hurt People Hurt People” and “Sticks And Stones 🤕,” which only reached the top 20 on the charts 📊. He claimed that it’s because the music industry has changed, and it’s harder to promote music now 📣. But let’s be real, it’s probably because the songs just aren’t that good 🎵. Gray said, “I thought for sure ‘Sticks And Stones’ would be a Top 10 single, and it topped out at [Top] 20 🤷♂️.” Yeah, because nothing says “hit single” like a song with a title that sounds like a kindergarten playground rhyme 🏫.
When asked if the poor performance of the singles contributed to MUDVAYNE’s decision to take a break from touring and recording in 2026, Gray said, “No 🙅♂️. Not at all 🙄.” He claimed that the band just wanted to take a break and chill for a bit 😎. But we all know that’s just code for, “We’re old and tired, and we need a nap 😴.”
Gray also talked about his solo project, saying, “I’m excited 🎉. I’m excited about what we did 🤩. I think the fans really enjoyed [the first show] 🎊.” Yeah, because who wouldn’t want to see a 54-year-old man screaming on stage 🤯? He also said, “I know I enjoyed it, and I’m gonna continue to enjoy it 😎.” Enjoy it? Dude, you’re making money off of this, not enjoying it 💸.
The “30 Years Of Madness” concerts mark Gray’s first-ever solo performances 🎤, and they’re taking place during a year when MUDVAYNE is not scheduled to do any touring 📆. Because, you know, the fans were just clamoring for more of Gray’s solo work 🙄. Gray said, “It’s about having those tools 🛠️. It’s about having the right people plugged in to be able to let people know that you have new music 📣.” Tools? You mean like a time machine to take you back to the early 2000s when your music was actually relevant 🕰️?
In other news, Gray’s band HELLYEAH has been inactive since early 2020 🛋️, but he’s still playing their songs on his solo tour 🎸. Because, why not, right? 🤷♂️. Gray said, “You can’t always guarantee that MUDVAYNE fans are gonna be HELLYEAH fans and that HELLYEAH fans are MUDVAYNE fans 🤔.” Yeah, because those two bands are totally different and not just a vehicle for Gray’s ego 🚗.
Gray also talked about his late bandmate Vinnie Paul, who passed away in 2018 💀. He said, “Vinnie used to say, like, ‘Man, it’s frustrating to me because people look at our band like a wall between me and PANTERA and you and MUDVAYNE 🤯.'” Yeah, because that’s exactly what people thought 🤔. Gray also said, “We always wanted HELLYEAH to kind of stand on its own 🌟.” Stand on its own? You mean like a crutch for Gray’s failing music career 🚶♂️?
In conclusion, Chad Gray’s new solo project is a thing 🎉, and we’re not really sure why 🤔. But hey, if you’re a fan of mediocre music and old men screaming on stage 🤯, then this is the concert for you 🎟️. So, go ahead and waste your money on tickets 💸, and let’s all just pretend that Gray is still relevant 🙄. 🎸👏
