It’s been a whopping 16 years since Jesse Eisenberg first played the role of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, and we’re still trying to figure out why he didn’t want to reprise the role in the upcoming sequel, The Social Reckoning 🤔. We mean, who wouldn’t want to play a neurotic, billionaire tech mogul again? 🤑 It’s not like he had better things to do, like making more Zombieland movies or something 🧟♂️. Anyway, Aaron Sorkin tried to convince him to come back, but Eisenberg was all like “nah, I’m good” 😒.
So, Sorkin had to settle for Jeremy Strong, who’s probably just thrilled to be playing a character who’s not a disgruntled member of a wealthy media family 📺. The Social Reckoning follows the true story of some Facebook engineer and Wall Street Journal reporter who teamed up to expose Facebook’s internal research secrets, because who doesn’t love a good scandal? 🤯 It’s like the ultimate plot twist: Facebook is bad, and Mark Zuckerberg is a problematic guy 🤦♂️. Who knew? 🤷♀️
But seriously, Jesse Eisenberg doesn’t want to be associated with Mark Zuckerberg anymore, and we don’t blame him 🚫. We mean, have you seen Zuckerberg’s haircut? 🤣 It’s like he stuck his finger in a socket 🚀. Eisenberg said he doesn’t agree with Zuckerberg’s contributions to the spread of misinformation, and honestly, who does? 🤔 It’s like, come on, Mark, get it together 📊.
Eisenberg also said he’s outgrown the character, which is code for “I’m too old for this stuff” 😂. He’s like the Daniel Day-Lewis of playing Mark Zuckerberg 🤣. But in all seriousness, The Social Reckoning is coming out on October 9, 2026, and we’re sure it’ll be a wild ride 🎢. Will it be as good as The Social Network? 🤔 Probably not, but hey, at least Jeremy Strong will get to play a character who’s not a rich kid with daddy issues 💸.

Spoiler alert: The Social Network 2 is not on the list 🙅♂️. But hey, maybe The Social Reckoning will be the sequel we never knew we needed 🤷♀️. Maybe it’ll be the movie that finally makes us all realize that Facebook is bad and we should all just delete our accounts 📴. A girl can dream, right? 💤
