Folks, I was sipping my coffee and scrolling through CNN when I came across this story about a guy getting arrested at the US Capitol. Apparently, the guy had a firearm, which is a big no-no on Capitol grounds. I mean, who doesn’t know that? It’s not like it’s a secret or anything. Anyway, the Capitol Police arrested the guy at the north barricade, and CNN even caught it all on video.
The video shows six officers surrounding an SUV, with two of them having their guns drawn and pointed at the guy. He’s got his hands up in the air, and he’s slowly backing away from the vehicle. I guess that’s the smart thing to do when there are guns pointed at you. The officers eventually lower their weapons, and then they cuff the guy and take him away. It’s all very dramatic, with more officers arriving on the scene and a dog barking in the car. I’m surprised they didn’t have a SWAT team show up, just for good measure.
I have to wonder what this guy was thinking, bringing a firearm to the Capitol. Did he not know the rules? Was he trying to make a statement? It’s just bizarre. And now the north barricade is closed while the police investigate, and everyone is being told to avoid the area. Because, you know, a guy with a gun isn’t enough to disrupt the whole day. Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer is probably thinking, “This is going to be a great story to tell, let’s make it sound as scary as possible.”
The police aren’t releasing the guy’s name, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. Maybe he’ll turn out to be some kind of activist, or maybe he’s just a guy who really likes guns. Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see how this story plays out. And who knows, maybe we’ll even get some more dramatic videos out of it.
In the end, it’s just another day in Washington, where the crazy people come out to play. And I get to sit here, sipping my coffee and shaking my head at the whole thing. It’s like a never-ending circus, folks, and I’m just here for the popcorn. The story is a good reminder to always follow the rules, especially when it comes to firearms, and to never bring a gun to the Capitol, unless you want to end up on CNN, that is. 🙄
