Anyway, Texas Sen. John Cornyn is leading the charge against Blanche, saying the Justice Department hasn’t done enough to assure him that this fund won’t move forward. Bless their hearts.
This whole thing is like a big game of chess, with everyone trying to outmaneuver each other. The Senate Judiciary Committee was planning to advance Blanche’s nomination on Thursday, but without Cornyn’s support, it’s going to be a tough sell. I mean, you can’t just push something like this through without getting everyone on board. It’s like trying to herd cats.
Cornyn said he still hasn’t received the written commitment he’s been demanding from Blanche and the Justice Department to formally kill the fund. Blanche, on the other hand, is being tight-lipped about the whole thing. He didn’t respond to questions from reporters, which is probably the smart thing to do in this situation. I mean, why stir the pot, right? But at the same time, it’s like, dude, say something. Give us some insight into what’s going on.
The survivors of Jeffrey Epstein are also weighing in on the nomination, urging lawmakers to vote against Blanche. One survivor, Dani Bensky, said that Blanche was “very condescending” when they met with him earlier in the month. Yikes, that’s not exactly the kind of thing you want to hear about someone who’s supposed to be leading the Justice Department.
