Oh boy, are you guys ready for some seriously outdated news? 🤯 I just found out that DEF LEPPARD and GOO GOO DOLLS are going on tour together next year, because apparently, millions of people demanded this exact lineup… or not. Anyway, Joe Elliott and John Rzeznik sat down with WTHR to talk about their upcoming 45-date North American tour, which will kick off on March 2 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and wrap up on July 2 in Indianapolis. I mean, who doesn’t love a good road trip with a couple of bands that were popular when your parents were still cool? 🚗
So, let’s get to the facts. The trek will feature special guests THE STRUTS, because why not? Along the way, the bands will visit major U.S. cities, including New York, Boston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and San Francisco, among dozens of others. I’m sure the folks in these cities are just thrilled to hear that they’ll be getting a healthy dose of “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Iris” next year. 🎉
Speaking about DEF LEPPARD’s longevity, Joe Elliott said, “Well, it’s just a blessing, really. It’s not anything I think about until somebody like yourself asks me that question, and then I have to come up with some kind of fancy answer, because, to me, I just live my day, and I wake up, and I do whatever I do, and then we, if we’re in tour mode, it’s down the rehearsal room for a few hours, and we talk and we laugh and we joke, and then eventually we actually play some songs together. It’s just part of the package.” Yeah, because being a rockstar is just soooo hard. 🙄
The Never-Ending Story of DEF LEPPARD
Joe Elliott also talked about how grateful he is that DEF LEPPARD has written so many songs that people still want to hear decades after they were first recorded. I mean, who wouldn’t want to hear “Hysteria” for the 100th time? 🤷♂️ “People sometimes think about any artist, when they have a hit, that you’re gonna get sick of it,” Elliott said. “I mean, obviously some people do, and I find that kind of weird. But when you have a [hit] song, it’s a blessing because at the end of the day, we’re all songwriters first; otherwise we have nothing to record.” Yeah, because songwriting is all about writing hits, not about creating actual art. 🎨
DEF LEPPARD’s story will be told in the upcoming feature-length documentary “Long Live Def Leppard”, slated for release in theaters in early 2027. Because, you know, the world was just missing a documentary about DEF LEPPARD. 🎥 The film from director Jeff Feuerzeig chronicles the legendary rockers from their humble beginnings in Sheffield, England to global chart domination in the 1980s and 1990s. I’m sure it’ll be a real thrill-ride. 🎢
What’s Next for DEF LEPPARD?
DEF LEPPARD is working on the follow-up to the “Diamond Star Halos” album, which came out in 2022. The new LP will include the song “Rejoice”, which was released in late January ahead of the band’s return to Las Vegas for their “Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency”. Because, you know, the world needs more DEF LEPPARD music. 🎶
In January 2025, DEF LEPPARD released a cover of Ben E. King’s 1961 classic “Stand By Me”. All proceeds from the song went to FireAid, which raises money for those impacted by the fires that swept through Los Angeles in January 2025. Wow, what a selfless act. 🙏
DEF LEPPARD’s version of the song is featured in the Netflix film “Bank Of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger”, which was released in January 2025. The band can be seen performing the track before the credits. Because, you know, the world was just missing a Netflix film featuring DEF LEPPARD. 🍿
So, there you have it, folks. DEF LEPPARD and GOO GOO DOLLS are going on tour, and they’re going to play all their hits, and you’re going to love it, or not. 🤷♂️ Either way, it’s going to be a wild ride, so buckle up and get ready for some seriously cheesy rock music. 🤘
