Oh boy, are you guys ready for some totally tubular news? 🏄♂️🎥 Point Break, the most righteous action thriller of all time, is coming back to theaters for its 35th anniversary! 🎉🔥 I mean, who doesn’t love a movie about bank-robbing surfers, extreme sports, and Patrick Swayze’s iconic hair? 😂💇♂️ Resurgence Media Group, Saga Arts, and Fathom Entertainment are teaming up to bring this classic back to the big screen, and we couldn’t be more stoked! 🤙♂️
The film, directed by the amazing Kathryn Bigelow, stars Keanu Reeves as FBI agent Johnny Utah and Patrick Swayze as the charismatic surfer Bodhi. And let’s not forget the rest of the awesome cast, including <strong<gary Busey, Lori Petty, John C. McGinley, James LeGros, and Anthony Kiedis! 🤩 It’s like a who’s who of 90s coolness! 😎 The movie follows Utah as he goes undercover to catch the Ex-Presidents, a gang of bank robbers who wear masks of former presidents (because, why not? 🤷♂️). As he gets deeper into the surf culture, he starts to question his loyalties and, you know, learns to surf and stuff 🏄♂️.
The two-day event will feature a special introduction by surfing legend Matt Archbold, who was also a surf double for Patrick Swayze in the film. He’ll be sharing some rad behind-the-scenes stories and talking about the spirit of surfing and freedom that makes Point Break so iconic 🌊. And, of course, the film will be presented in a brand new 4K restoration, so you can see Swayze’s hair in all its glory 🙌.
The theatrical return of Point Break will be supported by a bunch of cool surf-related stuff, including content from the World Surf League, SURFER Magazine, and Men’s Journal 🏄♂️. There will also be a special collaboration with the U.S. Open of Surfing, because why not? 🤷♂️ It’s not like we’re just trying to cash in on the film’s anniversary or anything 🤑. According to Shannah Miller, VP of Marketing at Fathom Entertainment, “Few films have built a following as loyal as Point Break’s… Thirty-five years after it first hit theatres, this newly restored 4K version gives that devoted following exactly what they’ve been asking for: Bodhi, Johnny Utah and those legendary surfing and skydiving sequences, back where they belong on the big screen.” Yeah, no kidding! 🙄
So, if you’re a fan of Point Break (and who isn’t? 🤷♂️), you can grab tickets now online or at participating theater box offices. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to relive the thrill of the film on the big screen, with its kinetic filmmaking, memorable performances, and endlessly quotable dialogue 🎥. And who knows, you might even learn some new surfing moves to impress your friends 🏄♂️. Or not 🤦♂️.
Anyway, we’re super stoked (get it? 🏄♂️) to see Point Break back in theaters, and we hope you are too! 🎉 So grab your surfboard, your parachute, and your best “I’m a bank-robbing surfer dude” impression, and get ready to ride the wave of nostalgia 🌊🎥. And if you’re not excited, well, as Bodhi would say, “You’re either on the bus or you’re off the bus” 🚌. So, what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now and let’s hit the beach! 🏖️🎥
