Oh no, the queen of rock ‘n’ roll is taking a break… the world is surely ending 🌪️! Joan Jett, the legendary musician who’s been blowing minds and shattering glass ceilings since the 70s, has been forced to cancel a couple of shows in September due to a recent surgical procedure. I mean, who needs to see Joan Jett live when you can just stay home and listen to “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” on repeat, right? 😴
So, what happened? Well, on August 5, Joan’s social media team posted a message saying she underwent orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae (yikes, that sounds painful 💀) and needs some time to recover. As a result, she’s canceling her shows in Costa Mesa, CA on September 5th and in Louisville, KY on September 24th. I’m sure the fans who were looking forward to those shows are totally understanding and not at all disappointed 🙄.

Joan Jett has been a rock legend for decades, and her career is a testament to her hard work and dedication. She formed her band THE BLACKHEARTS in 1979 and has since become a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, with eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles under her belt. I mean, who wouldn’t want to listen to “Bad Reputation”, “I Love Rock ‘N Roll”, “I Hate Myself For Loving You”, and “Crimson And Clover” on repeat all day? 🤘
But Joan Jett is more than just a musician – she’s also a producer, actress, and humanitarian. She’s worked with bands like BIKINI KILL and THE GERMS, and has even produced a few albums, including THE GERMS’ L.A. punk masterpiece “GI”. And let’s not forget about Blackheart Records, the entertainment company she co-founded with Kenny Laguna, which has been championing emerging bands for over 40 years. Wow, what a slacker 🙄.
Touring and Reissues
JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS are still touring the world, playing headlining shows alongside fellow rock legends like THE WHO, GREEN DAY, HEART, and FOO FIGHTERS.
