He was being held in ICE custody in Louisiana, which is kind of funny considering he’s been a big supporter of aggressive immigration enforcement. Yiannopoulos has been a prominent figure in the far-right movement, known for his outspoken views on feminism, Islam, and transgender people. He’s also been a big fan of Donald Trump, often referring to him as “Daddy.” Bless their hearts.
Yiannopoulos was born in England to British and Greek parents and came to the US, where he built a career as a conservative writer and speaker. He was a senior editor at Breitbart News and wrote columns with titles like “10 Things Milo Hates About Islam” and “Sorry, Girls! But The Smartest People In The World Are All Men.” He’s also been known for his “Dangerous F*ggot” bus tour of US universities, where he argued that rape culture on campuses didn’t exist and compared social justice to a disease.
But it looks like his platform has been dwindling since 2017, when he made comments appearing to condone pedophilia. He resigned from Breitbart and lost his book deal with Simon & Schuster. He’s also been banned from Twitter and Facebook, which has limited his online presence. Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this story sounded like a great plot twist.
After his arrest, far-right influencer Laura Loomer claimed she had reported him to ICE and the FBI. However, there’s no indication that her report had anything to do with his arrest. It’s worth noting that ICE arrests have been happening more frequently at US airports, so maybe Yiannopoulos just got caught in the net.
Yiannopoulos has continued to be involved in national politics, working on the 2024 presidential campaign of Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West. He’s also been posting on X (formerly Twitter) about the need for aggressive immigration enforcement, calling for the deportation of millions of people and total legal immunity for ICE agents.
