Grounded 2: We Swear It’s Not Just a Patch, Guys

grounded 2

Okay, gamers, gather ’round and let Uncle Troll tell you a bedtime story. Once upon a time, at the oh-so-important SGF 2025, Xbox, in their infinite wisdom, decided to grace us with their presence and a bunch of trailers that probably cost more than your house. But wait, there’s more! Obsidian, the studio that brought you such masterpieces as… uh… well, they made Grounded, and now they’re back with Grounded 2! Prepare to be amazed… or not.

The illustrious Xbox Games Showcase 2025, a monument to corporate synergy and manufactured hype, decided to drop a few “surprises” on the unsuspecting masses. One of these earth-shattering reveals was the ROG Xbox Ally, because what the world really needs is another handheld console to collect dust. But the real kicker? Obsidian Entertainment, not content with milking The Outer Worlds dry, decided to announce Grounded 2 during the Xbox Games Showcase, because why not? Watch the trailer below and try not to fall asleep. 😴

CGMagazine, in their infinite wisdom (or maybe they were just paid enough), called the original Grounded “a unique title with a simple premise, but a lot of meat on its bones.” Translation: it was okay, I guess. Instead of turning Grounded into a live-service nightmare like RARE did with Sea of Thieves (because who needs originality when you can have endless microtransactions?), Xbox decided to let Obsidian make a full-fledged sequel. And guess what? It’s probably not coming to PlayStation, because Xbox doesn’t like sharing. 🤣

So, what’s Grounded 2 all about? Well, it’s basically the same game, but this time, the kids are exploring a local park instead of a backyard. Get ready to ride ants, battle spiders, and marvel at the stunning graphics that probably look the same as the first game. Obsidian has been pumping out games left and right, so you know this one is going to be a polished, bug-free experience. (Spoiler alert: it won’t be.) 🐛

But wait, there’s more! Grounded 2 is launching into Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 29, 2025. That’s right, you get to pay to be a beta tester! How exciting! If you’re desperate for more SGF 2025 coverage (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?), head over to CGMagazine for all the details. Just don’t expect us to be impressed. 🙄
