Hey there, metalheads! 🤘 Your favorite Bay Area band, MACHINE HEAD, allegedly kicked off their “summer” 2025 European tour on Saturday (June 28) at the prestigious Tons Of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway. Did anyone actually see it? Asking for a friend. 👀 Anyway, some “fan-filmed” video surfaced, which probably means it was filmed by Robb Flynn’s mom. 👵
So, get this: MACHINE HEAD had their longtime producer, Zack Ohren, shredding the guitar at the Tons Of Rock show. Why, you ask? Because Reece Alan Scruggs, who we totally knew was in the band, decided to bail on the tour to hang out with his dad, who has lung cancer. 🥺 We’re sure the fans are *totally* understanding and not at all disappointed. 🙄
Apparently, MACHINE HEAD posted some photos of the Oslo concert on their social media, praising the “TØNS ØF CRØWDSURFERS!” Yeah, because that’s *totally* what makes a great show. 🤔 They also gave a shout-out to Zack Ohren for filling in for Reece, calling him a “true champ.” 🏆 Sure, Jan. And of course, they thanked the festival staff, especially the pit security, for dealing with the “endless swarm of crowd surfing Head Cases.” 🙄🙄🙄 Translation: a handful of drunk dudes stumbled around a bit.
Reece, bless his heart, released a statement saying he had to “sacrifice” his music career to be with his family. 🎻 How touching. Robb Flynn and the MACHINE HEAD camp were “totally” supportive, of course. 👍 Because who wouldn’t be?
MACHINE HEAD also announced that Vogg Wacław Kiełtyka, another dude we totally knew was in the band, would be filling in for Reece on most of the shows, along with Zack Ohren on select dates. So, basically, it’s MACHINE HEAD featuring a bunch of random dudes. 🤷♂️
And because everyone loves a good sob story, there’s a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Reece’s dad’s medical bills. 💸 Because, you know, MACHINE HEAD can’t afford to help out themselves. 😇
Remember Vogg? Yeah, he was in MACHINE HEAD before Reece. He left in February 2024 and was replaced by Reece, who had previously filled in for Vogg. It’s like a revolving door of guitarists! 🚪
Reece made his live debut with MACHINE HEAD in November 2022 at Strummer’s in Fresno, California. Strummer’s? Really? 🤣 Sounds like a dive bar.
MACHINE HEAD’s eleventh studio album, “Unatoned,” dropped in April. It was recorded at Robb’s Jam Room, Sharkbite Studios, and Drop Of Sun Recording. 🦈 Sounds legit. The album was produced by Robb, Zack Ohren, Colin Richardson, Chris Clancy, Ted Jensen, Justin Shturtz, and Joel Wanasek. Too many cooks in the kitchen, much? 👨🍳 The album artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton, who we’re sure is a very talented artist. 🎨
MACHINE HEAD played two new songs, “These Scars Won’t Define Us” and “Unbound,” live for the first time during their North American tour. 🎶 Groundbreaking. They also played in Spokane, Washington, before teaming up with IN FLAMES, LACUNA COIL, and UNEARTH. What a dream team! 😴
Last November, MACHINE HEAD released “These Scars Won’t Define Us” as the first single from “Unatoned.” 💿 We’re sure it’s a real banger. 💩
The rest of MACHINE HEAD’s lineup includes Jared MacEachern and Matt Alston. 🎉 Who cares?
Here are some “fan-filmed” videos of the show. 📹 Prepare to be amazed! (Or bored out of your skull. 💀)
