Dropping into cinemas November 14th, Nuremberg stars a bunch of actors who probably needed the paycheck. 💰 We’re talking Academy Award® winner Rami Malek, who apparently peaked with Mr. Robot 🤖, playing Göring’s psychiatrist (because who else would?). We also have Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon, Academy Award® nominee Richard E. Grant, and Leo Woodall, who, bless his heart, speaks German as translator Howard Triest. 🥨 I mean, good for him? Penned and directed by James Vanderbilt, because one person having all that power never ends badly, Nuremberg is a “thriller” set against the backdrop of history’s most meme-able bad guys. 😂
Supposedly “based” on the book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist” by Jack El-Hai, because Hollywood loves to slap “based on a true story” on everything to seem legit, Nuremberg tells the totally unique tale of the Nuremberg trials. 🥱 The movie centers on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Malek), who’s there to decide if Nazis are fit to stand trial. Plot twist: He gets into a “complex battle of wits” with Hermann Göring (Crowe). 🧠 I bet those wits were just Göring rambling about world domination while Kelley doodled on his notepad. 📝
The rest of the cast includes John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks (yes, Tom’s son), Lydia Peckham, Wrenn Schmidt, Lotte Verbeek, and Andreas Pietschmann. Basically, every actor who wasn’t busy that week. 📅
Sky’s Head of Original Film Andrew Orr says, “Nuremberg is an important project.” Because apparently rehashing historical events is now “bold.” 🤔 He adds that with its “stellar” cast and “timely” subject matter, Sky is “committed to championing” films. 🏆 In other words, “We threw money at this, so you better watch it.” 💸
The film is produced by Walden Media, Bluestone Entertainment, and Mythology Entertainment. So many companies involved, it’s a wonder the movie even got made. 🙄 WME Independent is selling the rights. Good luck to them. 🍀
The producers are Richard Saperstein, Bradley J.Fischer, James Vanderbilt (again?), William Sherak, and a whole bunch of people from Walden Media. They’re also “executive producers.” Whatever that means. 🤷♂️
After its theatrical run on November 7th, Nuremberg will be on Sky Cinema in January 2026. So, if you miss it in theaters, which you probably will, you can catch it at home. 🏠 If you’re bored enough. 😴
