Oh, great, another Hunger Games movie 🙄. Because we *totally* needed more dystopian teen angst in our lives. Lionsgate, bless their cotton socks, has dropped a “surprise” teaser trailer for THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING. Surprise! As if anyone wasn’t expecting them to milk this franchise dry like a sad, dystopian cow 🐄.

So, mark your calendars, peasants! The film adaptation of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will grace (or rather, plague) our screens on November 20, 2026. Get ready to witness more teenagers fighting to the death, because apparently, we haven’t had enough of that in real life 💀.

THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING revisits the world of Panem and follows young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

Oh, joy! A prequel! Because prequels always improve everything, right? *cough* Star Wars *cough*. We get to see young Haymitch, played by some poor bloke named Joseph Zada, before he became the lovable, drunken mentor we all know and tolerate. Prepare for a sob story about his tragic past, filled with all the emotional depth of a puddle 🪣.

Francis Lawrence is back to direct, because apparently, he hasn’t learned his lesson yet. Billy Ray is penning the screenplay, so expect dialogue that’s both cliché and painfully obvious. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson from Color Force are producing, ensuring that this film will be just as formulaic and predictable as the rest. And Cameron MacConomy is executive producing, which means absolutely nothing to anyone except his mom 👩‍👦.

Let’s not forget that the previous five films raked in over $3.3 billion at the box office. Because apparently, people have no taste and will watch anything with the words “Hunger” and “Games” in the title 🤡.

Sunrise on the Reaping sold 1.5 million copies in its first week. Shocking! Apparently, people are still buying books in 2025. The 1.2 million copies sold in the U.S. are TWICE the first week sales of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and THREE TIMES the first week sales of Mockingjay! This either means Suzanne Collins is improving, or that the bar was set so low, a worm could vault over it 🐛.

ONLY IN CINEMAS NOVEMBER 20TH 2026. Because, you know, we need to keep the movie theater industry alive somehow. Even if it means subjecting ourselves to another Hunger Games movie 🎬.
